Michelle "Shelli" Lynn Morgenstern

Michelle "Shelli" Lynn Morgenstern, of Brookline, passed away peacefully on August 26, 2025.

Beloved daughter of the late Ernest and Sylvia Morgenstern. Devoted wife of Jim Swaim for over 45 years. Loving mother of Jordan Swaim (Nick Sciandra) of Boston and Hannah Swaim (Charlie Wright) of San Francisco. Cherished grandmother of Winnifred, George, and Ernie. Dear sister of Gary Morgenstern (Dale Morgenstern).

Shelli earned her master’s degree from Boston University and dedicated more than 30 years to teaching. As one of Brookline Public Schools' first literacy specialists, she brought patience, warmth, and boundless enthusiasm to her work, helping countless children discover the joy of reading.

She was an avid reader, a loyal friend, a die-hard Red Sox fan, and a grandmother who delighted in every moment spent with her grandchildren. Michelle's kindness, wisdom, and enduring love will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Levine Chapels, 470 Harvard Street, Brookline. The service will be available via livestream at the following link: www.levinelive.com/mmorgenstern

Burial will be private.

Shiva will be observed following the memorial service on Wednesday from 2:00 – 8:00pm at family residence.
