Myckie Mayman, age 88, passed away peacefully on July 17, 2023, with her family lovingly by her side. Born October 14, 1934, to Hillard and Evelyn Fine, Myckie spent her youth in Chicago with her large extended family nearby. She was a talented artist and won a Chicago city wide art contest in high school and went on to graduate from Northwestern University.
After moving to Boston in 1957 to attend Simmons College of Social Work, she earned her M.S.W and worked at Beth Israel Hospital where she met and fell in love with Chaim Mayman, the nice Jewish doctor of her dreams, and married him in 1959. They were married for 35 happy years and had four children together. She had a private practice in social work for decades and volunteered for Congressman Barney Frank for over 20 years. She was fervent advocate for social justice.
Myckie was strong-willed and possessed of an indomitable spirit and joie de vivre. She loved to travel and visited many exotic destinations across the globe. She had a keen sense of humor, was easy to laugh with, and insightful to the point where she could cut to the essence of any social situation. She was an advisor, confidante, friend and fan to her children and 11 grandchildren. She was a prodigious consumer of sugar, steak and ice cream, purveyor of “10,000 kisses” to all her loved ones and an advocate of eating dessert first due to the uncertainty of life. Most importantly, she was a loving and compassionate wife, mother and grandmother.
Myckie is survived by her four children, Haya Mayman (husband Michael J. Rivkin, and their children Ariel, Noah and Ailey), Devorah Mayman Patt (husband Doron D. Patt, and their children, Edan, Eliana, Ilai and Kayla), Avrum Mayman (wife Angelika Mayman and their daughters, Naomi, Talya and Gavrielle and Rina Mayman Harrison (husband Michael Harrison and their son Aidan).
