

Nanette (Tanen) Bond, longtime resident of Brookline, died peacefully of natural causes on Sunday, March 10, 2024, at the age of 86. For 56 years she was the devoted wife of the late Harold Bond. Beloved mother of Jill Bond and Mindy Bond. Cherished daughter of the late Alfred and Leah (Zalowitz) Tanen and dear sister of the late Norman Tanen.
Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, she graduated Brooklyn College in 1958 with a Bachelor of Arts in History and was a member of the Epsilon Beta chapter of Alpha Epsilon Phi Fraternity. Upon graduation she worked in New York City in market research at Mutual of New York. In 1961, while on vacation in Miami Beach, she met her future husband and six months later they were married at the Roosevelt Hotel in New York. She then moved to Brookline, where she resided for nearly six decades.
Nanette lived an active life, enjoying tennis, golf, bridge, and mahjong. She was an avid reader, and lifelong learner who took advantage of the many cultural offerings in Boston. She had an incredible memory for all level of detail. She was a vibrant presence who always spoke her mind.
After Nanette’s husband Harold passed in 2018, she moved to Springhouse, a senior living community, where she enjoyed lectures and playing trivia. At the end of 2023, after dealing with several health challenges, she transitioned to Hebrew Senior Life where she was well cared for until she passed. In her final days she was surrounded by her loving daughters, relatives, and friends.
A graveside service will take place on Thursday, March 14, at 1pm at Shara Tfilo Cemetery in West Roxbury. Memorial observance will be private.
