Beloved wife of the late Harvey J. Rosenfield; adored mother of Michael Rosenfield; daughter of the late Avram and Elsa Gelber; sister of the late Dr. Donald Gelber. Odette was born in Bucharest, Romania, and spent her summers in the Carpathian mountain town of Sinaia where her childhood memories lasted a lifetime. She graduated from university in Bucharest and became a social worker. After her family moved to Israel, Odette later received permission from the Romanian government to leave the country. By then her parents had passed away and her brother had moved to Boston. She lived in Paris for a short time with the help of a Jewish refugee agency and then settled in Rome for nine years. On a visit to Boston, she met Harvey on a chance encounter in the lobby of Jamaicaway Tower. They were married six months later. Odette became a US citizen and built a small business as a massage therapist. She had a devoted clientele who admired her talent, empathy, wisdom and common sense. She became their confidante. Odette worked exceptionally hard, but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her husband and son in their home and traveling the world together. She leaves behind her sister-in-law Gail Frischberg; her niece Michelle Frischberg Perez (Stephen) and their children Alyssa, Jordan and Kara; her nephew Daniel Frischberg; her sister-in-law Shirley Gelber; her dear cousins Jolanda Zickmann, Albert Zickmann, Irina Tannenbaum and Stephane Gruber; and her loyal friends Sonia and Harry, Edith and Lucian, Barbara, Nora, and Bruno. But most of all she leaves behind her son Michael with whom she had an unwavering bond.
