I grew up with Richard during the summers and our families were close. I regret his passing and just learning of it. We were friends, Richard was smart, typically smarter than I and had better grades in school but put up with me anyway.  I am now visiting the beach where our families gathered to reflect on the spirit of my mom on her birthday. I visit every year and it is often the only time I come by no longer having property in the area. I would often see Richard on these visits but saw the house was dark this year. I was looking up his Waltham phone number and sadly came across obituary.  These visits often result in reflecting on many spirits of those passed whom enjoyed this place so much including Lottie and George and now Richard too.... Please accept my true regrets for just now acknowledging Richard passing Janet... Your family has always been in my best thoughts... Life is too short and was truly too short for Richard but I am grateful to have known him and been a friend.. With Love David

Just a note to say Richard will be very missed. We enjoyed our chats, his humor, and his love of History. Richard was a man that believed in Truth & Justice. He loved his friends and family and the lake his home and going to New Jersey to spend the Holidays with his sister. We shared dinners together and talked about many things. I want to extend my sincerest condolences. Growing up on Lincoln Terrace in Waltham, my brother and I had the joy of being childhood friends with Richard, sharing all of the experiences and memories that come with that. Those were seemingly simpler times when walking a mile to elementary school was no big deal. I’ll remember Richard as a safety patrol boy, an avid member of the band and a fun neighbor. Peace. 

Janet, I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Richard.  I don't know if you remember me but I hung out with Richard from 7th grade thru 12th grade and then we drifted apart.  May Richard rest in the eternal peace that he has earned.  My thoughts and prayers are with you at this very sad and difficult time.  Mike Felix

To Richard's family. I would like to extend sincerest condolences on behalf of the Waltham High School Class of 1975.  It was with great sadness that I read his obituary in tonight's Waltham News Tribune.  We were classmates at WHS and I recently admired his efforts speaking at a City Council meeting standing up for his cause.  I am so very sorry for your loss.  It is a terrible loss to our class. I have known Richard since the 70's, it's hard to believe us kids have reached this stage of our lives & losing peers.Richard was one of the "big" kids when I was little along with David Stevens, Jamie Beck & Davey Driscoll they were some of the best water skiers on the lake. I will greatly miss seeing Richard coming down steps in his cut off's and flannel shirt getting ready for a swim. It was only in recent years I learned the history of your family during our many "short" chats about various topics, I was hoping to talk more to him about that over time.
I will greatly miss him this summer and still can't believe I wont see him strolling down barefoot from Wotonda on his way to dive off the docks.
Janet please know he will always hold a special place in our hearts for many of us at the lake.

Janet, I am so sorry to hear of Richard’s passing. One of my WBCC childhood memories is of Richard swinging from the rope swing into the lake! He really loved the lake!

I am so sorry to learn of Richard's passing.  I enjoyed getting to know him better as we got older and enjoyed our chats on the dock, on Wotanda Lane and at WBCC meetings. Like you and your parents, Richard will always be part of my WBCC summer memories and I will miss seeing him come down the path for his afternoon swim.    Paula and I also had a Zoom toast with Matt Bonner in Richard's honor last night.  May you find comfort in Richard's stories and memories and knowing that he will be missed.

Janet, you and Richard were older than me but probably close in age to one of my brothers Mike or Tom.  The WBCC was a magical place to grow up.   I am saddened to hear of Richard's passing and I hope that he went without suffering. May his memory be a blessing to you and your family.

My deepest sympathy on the loss of Richard. I have so many wonderful memories of all of us kids spending summers at the WBCC; swimming, boating, water skiing and just hanging out. As adults, we would occasionally see each other and catch up. I remember sitting at the beach on weekends and Richard would regularly come down at the end of the day for his daily swim off the dock. I hope your memories bring you some peace.

Janet, I am so sorry to hear of Richard’s passing. Please know you are in my and my parents prayers. I will miss seeing Richard swimming out to the rock each day!!! So many early memories we all shared of good times getting in trouble as teens! He will always be a part of those Good memories .  And then add the Waltham connection as well. I Know your parents would be so proud of his participation in his last years in the colony club.
