Richard J. Chaffin

Richard J. Chaffin, age 94, of Westwood, formerly of Needham, passed away on Sunday, October 11, 2026. Beloved husband of the late Charlotte (Roberts) Chaffin. Loving father of Ellen Levenson & her husband, James, Susan Chaffin and Steven Chaffin & his wife, Penny Duan. Cherished grandfather of Jeremy and Freddy. Devoted brother of Daniel Chaffin and the late Nathaniel Chaffin and dear companion of Vivian Levin. Fond uncle and great uncle to his many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, and grand-nephews.

Dick always had time to listen to a story, share an observation, or enjoy a fine meal. He loved life and was proud of his work in the optical industry, his children and grandchildren and their accomplishments. He remained active as a trustee of the Mass Eye and Ear and an officer of his Harvard class. Everyone who met Dick appreciated his sense of humor and his wide knowledge of the world. He was a gentleman.

A funeral service will be held at the Chapel at Sharon Memorial Park, 40 Dedham Street, Sharon on Tuesday, October 13 at noon with burial to follow. Shiva will be announced at the service.
