
Robert Ellis Gordon, age 57, of Seattle, WA on Thursday, February, 16, 2012. Beloved son of Joan (Strumph) Gordon of Newton and the late Mark Ellis Gordon. Loving brother of Deborah Gordon Litt & her husband Robert S. of Chevy Chase, Maryland and Barbara Gordon & her husband John D. O’Connor of Mansfield, Massachusetts. Adored uncle of Rebecca, Miriam & Rachel Litt and Sarah Rose & Gabriel O’Connor. A graduate of Harvard College and the Iowa Writers’ Workshop, he was a writer who cared deeply for the underprivileged. He worked with prisoners, and published a collection of their writings and his essays, The Funhouse Mirror. He was also the author of a critically acclaimed novel, When Bobby Kennedy Was a Moving Man, as well as numerous other essays and short stories. Memorial Service will be held at Levine Chapels, 470 Harvard St., Brookline on Monday, February 20, at 2:00 PM. Memorial observance will be at home of Joan Gordon immediately following services until 8PM, continuing Tuesday 2-4PM and 7-9PM.
