Rodica Emanuel, age 83 of Southborough, Massachusetts has passed away after an 8 month bravely fought battle against a vicious cancer. Dr. Emanuel was born in Bucharest, Romania in 1939 to Herman and Sarica (Buium) Rosenberg. She survived the Nazi horrors of the war followed by the Communist domination of her native country. She married her high school sweetheart, Alexander Emanuel, in 1960. Together they moved to Israel where she completed Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Chemistry at the Technion. Immigrating to the United States in 1969, Rodica and her husband raised their son in Framingham, eventually moving to Southborough in 1981 where she resided for 41 years. She completed her Doctorate in Clinical Chemistry at Northeastern University while continuing to work in the Endocrinology laboratories of Brigham and Women’s, as well as Children’s Hospital until her retirement.
She was a member of Temple Beth Am in Framingham for over 45 years. Dr. Emanuel leaves behind her husband of 62 years, Dr. Alexander Emanuel, her brother Sorin (wife Henrietta) Rosenberg, her nephew Yuval Rosenberg, and her son, Dr. David (wife Shelly) Emanuel, all of Framingham, as well as her two beloved granddaughters, Emily and Jessica.
Dr. Emanuel will be remembered for her integrity, honesty, hard work, and selfless attitude of caring for her husband until the very moment she was unable to do so. The family is extremely grateful to Framingham Union Hospital/ Metrowest Medical Center including The Cancer Center where she was treated so competently and kindly by Dr. Li-Ming Hu and Dr. Kala Seetharaman. Kudos to the medical teams and nurses who were so good to our mother.
A funeral service will be held 10:00 AM on Friday, 2 December 2022 at Temple Beth Am, 300 Pleasant Street, Framingham, Massachusetts. Interment is to follow at Beit Olam Cemetery East in Wayland, Massachusetts.
