From the minute I met Ron, I knew he was pure love. He loved his children, family, friends and he cherished my friend Andrea.  I am so grateful that Andrea was loved unconditionally, every minute of every day and Julia and Niko got one of the best Dad's in the world.

We love you and you will be so missed. The best memories we had were enjoying the outdoors and our time at the Meyers beach house with you and the kids. You have a crazy, fun side that made us smile and laugh often.  Have never met anyone so easily likeable, with a gentle and kind spirit.  In loving memory, Frank, Roxanne and Paige

I took care of Ron and we became friends, talking mostly about our kids who happen to be in the same age group. I admired how much he loved his family. He was fun to talk to and be around.  I am saddened and shocked and I just wanted Rob to know that in the short time I knew you, you were a positive and fun and upbeat person to be around.. I appreciate all the stories and the  mutual venting about tween woes.. RIP my friend.. this has really touched me.

Dear Ron,

It was October 2017, and a 60 ft birch tree in our front yard needed to come down. Ok, maybe it was 50 ft, but who’s counting. You were hanging out at our house one day, and we discussed options for what to do with this big tree.  Most people around here call a tree company.  But we weren't going to do that. Ron, you showed up at our house in your 700 hp Mercedes with a chainsaw in the trunk, ready to face a challenge. We had to nail it – powerlines to the left and our newly renovated house to the right.  No margin for error. Somehow we got the job done,  and afterward we had some good laughs and a few well deserved beers together with Chris, Mark and a couple of other friends.  Two years later we’re still talking about the day we cut the tree down. We will never forget that incredible day with you.  

Ron, thank you for being an awesome friend and neighbor. But most of all, thank you for showing us how to be an amazing father. Rest in peace, dear friend. 


I remember a little boy, called Ronny, who came to visit his Oma Dora in Naarden every four years.  Standing on her balcony and calling for my little brother, Erik. Oh boy, how happy he was to have an American friend.  To me Ron was the little brother of my friend. Simone.
I will remember his laugh, his humor, his love for cars and the deep love for his dear family.

Now he is reunited with his mother. Rest in peace, Ron!

I was fortunate enough to have met Ron this last summer through his friendship with my stepfather. Ron immediately opened his home and arms to us and made us feel so welcome and comfortable. He took my family on a tour of Long Island and loaned us his golf cart for the weekend. He made sure we were happy and content and we had a delicious lobster dinner all together. I will cherish my brief but happy memories with Ron. Heaven gained another angel❤️

I knew “Ronny” as a child. He was our neighbor. Although his looks have changed greatly with maturity, THAT SMILE Takes me right back to the 70’s where his cute little boyish face lit up with joy when he came out to play, or be anywhere with his sister. What a sweetheart he was then, and obviously was through his whole, tragically short, but well-lived  life. How we loved our Ronny Lieuwma.

so many memories of Ron.  I've known him since 1980, we went to high school together, totally into cars.  From his VW Thing all the way up to his Killer AMG Mercedes, he's had 'em all!  Always in a great mood, with a big smile, he shared silly memories of my dad whenever he could.  He and Andrea invited me, Jolene, and kids up to Long Island for the week just the past August!  We had so much fun!  Giant Lobster Bake, lots of laughs!  He was suffering a little bit but never let it get in the way of a good time!  A wonderful soul!  So kind, so open and easy to hang with.  I will miss him so much!
