I am sorry for Ros' loss. Mrs. Spector was my AP French Lit teacher at Maimonides School from 1975-7. Her deep love for French literature, and attention to French grammar had a tremendous influence on my life. I remember the poems (by Beudelaire and Rimbaud) still that I memorized for the class. More significantly, her classroom work instilled such a love of foreign cultures and languages in me that I changed my career and intellectual focus from math/science to the study of diverse cultures. I remain a lifelong Francophile/Francophone, my daughter is now studying French, and I am a professor specializing in foreign cultures and ideas (Middle Eastern Studies). All of this (plus very helpful college recommendations and advice) has a lot to do with Mrs. Spector. It is not an exaggeration to say that she is among a small group of teachers whose legacy is with me every day.
