

Ruth G. (Weinfield) Matz, of Belmont on Nov. 5, 2021. Beloved wife of the late Dr. Myron Matz. Mother of Laura Matz and husband Stephen; Elliot Matz; and Andrew Matz and wife Christine. Devoted grandmother of Matthew Hill, Ross Hill, Daniel Matz, and Eliza Matz. Great grandmother of Lilah, James, and Eily. Ruth was a dearly loved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend.
She was an active member of the community in Belmont as well as the local synagogue – Beth El Temple Center. Ruth was the chief librarian of the Law Library, Office of the Attorney General, Commonwealth of Massachusetts, a past president of the Law Librarians of New England, and co-editor of the Handbook of Legal Research in Massachusetts. She was a graduate of Radcliffe College and Simmons College Graduate School of Library and Information Science.
In her private life, Ruth was an avid reader and traveler, and for many years played an active role in the Harvard Institute for Learning in Retirement. We celebrate her life and accomplishments and cherish her memory.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, November 8 at 10:00 AM at Sharon Memorial Park Chapel. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Shiva will be today only, at 66 Park Ave. Natick.
