Ruth (Diamond) Sandler

Ruth Diamond Sandler of Cranford, NJ, Boca Raton, FL and most recently The Village in Gainesville, FL passed away peacefully on May 25, 2023 at the age of 85.

She is survived by her daughter Kim Sandler, son in law, Ron Cohen, granddaughter Lauren Cohen and also by her son Don Sandler and granddaughter Jenna Sandler. Her daughter Dana Sandler passed away in 2002.

Ruth was born in Elizabeth, NJ and attended Battin High School, Highland Manor School for Girls in Long Branch, and then Bryant College in Rhode Island.

For 40 years, she was married to Gordon Sandler, originally from Providence, RI.

Ruth was trained as a dancer and won many awards during her lifetime. She loved athletics and was an avid skier, tennis player, golfer and swimmer. She was a member of Shackamaxon Country Club for many years in Scotch Plains, NJ.

She was a member of Temple Emanuel in Westfield, NJ.

Ruth was committed to many causes including support for Israel. She was a philanthropist, president of the Diamond Foundation, and gifted several ambulances to Israel. The foundation made contributions to many other causes.

She was a music lover and played Latin percussion.

Everyone that knew her was struck by her million dollar smile, effervescence, warmth and compassion for others, friendliness and sense of humor. She never knew a stranger.

A celebration of life ceremony was held in Gainesville, FL at Congregation Bnai Israel officiated by Rabbi David Kaiman on May 29, 2023. A graveside service will be held on Sunday, June 4th at the Shara Tfilo Cemetery, 776 Baker Street, West Roxbury at 11:00am.
