Ruth Steinberg, 93, formerly of Marblehead lived in Newton and Delray for the past 25 years. Born in Chelsea, MA, Ruth was the oldest daughter of Sara and Albert Freeman.
She was a beloved wife to her late husband Edward Steinberg for almost sixty years. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, Great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family.
Ruth dedicated most of her life to raising her three children and spending time with her beloved family. She also owned a candy store in the Liberty Tree Mall in Danvers called the NutKracker Sweet. She was an expert bridge player, becoming a Life Master and enjoyed playing canasta and mahjong with friends. She was an avid Boston Sports fan and especially loved the Red Sox and Patriots. She was a life member of Hadassah.
Above all, she cherished her family. She was the loving mother of Sondra and Norman Levenson, her late daughter Marjorie and her husband Robert Korff and Marc and Stephanie Steinberg. She was the adored grandmother of Arielle (Evan), Benjamin (Camille), Amanda (Youssef), Daniel (Juliana), Alexander and Caroline. She was the proud great grandmother of Lila, Gabriel, June and Solomon. She was also the dear sister to Phyllis and her late husband Irwin Chase and sister-in-law Selma Krichmar. She was a loving Aunt to all of her nieces and nephews. Ruth’s warmth, love and devotion to her family will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
Funeral Services will be on Wednesday February 26, 2025 at Stanetsky Memorial Chapel in Brookline, MA at 1:00 pm.
Interment will follow at Sharon Memorial Park and shiva will be observed afterwards at Nahanton Woods, 210 Nahanton Steet Newton, MA in the function room until 8:00 pm and on Thursday from 1:00 - 4:00 pm and 6:00 – 9:00 pm.
Donations may be made in Ruth’s memory to the Marjorie E. Korff PACT Program at Massachusetts General Hospital.
