

S. Fred Schwartz; passed away Monday, February 3, 2014 at the age of 82. Fred was a graduate of Boston University where he received his Master’s Degree in Rehabilitative Medicine. For many years he was employed by the Boston VA Medical Center in West Roxbury where he treated thousands of veterans with their therapy needs after strokes and amputations. Mr. Schwartz was a founding member of Snow Rovers Ski Club. He marched with Martin Luther King, Jr in Selma, AZ. Fred was very active in his community coaching both swimming and diving in Boston and Arizona. He was the beloved husband of the late Harriet (Orlov) Schwartz. Devoted father of Mark Schwartz and his wife Darline of Arizona. Loving brother of Bernard Schwartz and Louis Schwartz and brother-in-law of Barbara Orlov of Needham. Cherished grandfather of Steve and Nick Schwartz. Dear uncle of Sheldon and Mimi. A Graveside service will be held on Friday (TODAY) at 12 Noon at Pultusker Cemetery, 776 Baker Street, W. Roxbury. Family and friends are invited to gather immediately following interment at the home of Barbara Orlov. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E. Flower Street, Phoenix, AZ 85014.
