Born in New York, NY, she was a daughter of the late Jack and Florence (Dietch) Lindover. She graduated from Hunter College (’47) and did post-graduate work in psychology at Syracuse University. After a successful career in the mental health field, at the age of 52 she joined the Peace Corps, training in Zaire and then teaching at the National University of Rwanda for two years. At the age of 56 she joined the Foreign Service and proudly served as Consular Officer in the U.S. State Dept from 1983 - 1992. She has served in Egypt, West Africa, India, and Germany. After retiring at 65, she continued to have short assignments in Haiti, Yemen and Azerbaijan until almost 80 years old.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Bethany Jacobson of Brooklyn, NY, Lisa Jacobson of Cambridge, MA, her granddaughter Zoe Halaczinsky of Brooklyn, N.Y., nephews Sam Alberts of Alexandria, V.A. and Luke Alberts of Princeton, N.J., and more family and friends spread across the globe.
