The Hispanic National Bar Association (HNBA) mourns the passing of Salomón Chiquiar-Rabinovich, a longtime member, advocate, mentor, and cherished friend whose nearly two decades of service left a lasting impact on the HNBA and the broader legal community.
Above all, Salomón will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, and unwavering commitment to others. A devoted husband and proud father of three, he cared deeply about his family and the communities he served. He stood up against discrimination, championed those whose voices too often went unheard, and consistently gave of himself, even while facing significant challenges of his own.
Salomón’s contributions to the HNBA were both extensive and enduring. He served on the HNBA Board of Governors as Region I Governor, helped lead the Association’s international law initiatives, and co-chaired the 2008 HNBA Iberoamerican Congress in Mexico City. Perhaps most notably, he founded the HNBA Attorneys with Disabilities and Their Allies Section, creating a lasting space for advocacy, connection, and inclusion within the legal profession. In 2025, Salomón and the Section were jointly recognized with the American Bar Association’s Honorable Bernice B. Donald Award.
His advocacy extended well beyond the HNBA. A past president of the Massachusetts Association of Hispanic Attorneys and founder of the Boston Bar Association’s Attorneys with Disabilities Committee, Salomón drew on his own experiences to challenge discrimination, advance disability inclusion, and open doors for others. His commitment to this work never wavered.
“Salomón embodied the very best of our HNBA familia,” said HNBA National President Raquel M. Matas. “He led with compassion, stood up for others, and believed deeply in creating a legal profession where everyone belongs. His contributions to our Association will endure, but it is his extraordinary kindness, generosity, and love for his family that we will remember most. We are heartbroken by his passing and profoundly grateful for the difference he made in so many lives.”
For those who knew him personally, Salomón’s friendship and generosity were as meaningful as his professional achievements. He was someone who showed up for others, offered encouragement freely, and never lost sight of the people behind the causes he championed.
We honor his remarkable life and the legacy of compassion, service, and inclusion he leaves behind.
