For 55 years, she was the beloved wife and best friend of the late Charles "Chuck" Schwartz. Devoted mother of Pamela Fay Cohen and her husband Joshua Jordan, David Ansin Schwartz and his wife Jane Price, Elizabeth Sondra Cohen and her husband Tal, and Julia Molly Healy and her husband John. Her grandchildren were the lights of her life: Elena, Ethan (Erin), Emma, Jacob, Tav (Idahn), Neri, Shir, Yaara, Aidan, Charlotte (Danielle). Devoted daughter of the late S. Philip and Sara (Liberman) Gopen and treasured stepdaughter of the late Dr. David Weintraub. Loving sister of Emily (Gopen) Lipof and George Gopen. Loving cousin of David Kanter, who gave Sheila a second life. Forever cherished by her extended family, including the Kanter, Decter, and Brown cousins.
She was a caring psychiatric social worker with a private practice in Needham for over 40 years, and an adjunct professor at the Boston University School of Social Work. She was a graduate of the Dana Hall School, Bryn Mawr College, Simmons University School of Social Work, and Boston College Law School.

Memorial observance at Shelia's late residence following the service until 7pm and continuing Wednesday from 4-8pm.
