Sidney S. Werlin, of Chelsea, formerly of Belmont, on October 4, at the age of 101. Beloved and devoted husband of 63 years to the late Beatrice (Coran) Werlin. Loving father and father in law of David Werlin and his wife Beverly Napior and Haskell “Hank” Werlin and his wife Connie Barbour. Cherished grandfather of Benjamin and Edith Jaehne and Kyla and Coby Werlin. Great grandfather of Jacob and Domenic. Fond brother of Jeannie Charak and the late Ruth Rubin, Dorothy Werlin, Sylvia Korin and Sally Kanter. Devoted uncle, great uncle, cousin and friend.
Sid served in the US Coast Guard during WWII as Yeoman Second Class in Greenland and Alaska. He graduated from Northeastern University Class of 1941 with a Doctor of Jurisprudence degree. Sid was a founding member of Temple Emunah of Lexington and the Cohen Florence Levine Poker Club. He was a member of the Ivanhoe Lodge of the Fraternal Order of the Knights of Pythias.
Services will be held at Levine Chapels, 470 Harvard Street, BROOKLINE on Sunday, October 7 at 9:30am. Burial to follow at Chevra Mishna Cemetery, Moray Street, Lynn. Immediately following the burial on Sunday, memorial observance will be at The Chelsea Jewish Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, 17 Lafayette Avenue, Chelsea, and will continue on Monday from 5-9pm at the home of Hank and Connie. Please omit flowers. Remembrances, if desired, may be made to Nehar Shalom Community Synagogue, 43 Lochstead Avenue, Jamaica Plain, MA 02130.
