Steven Marlin, beloved son of Elaine and David Marlin of Sudbury, passed away June 3, 2022, after a sudden cancer diagnosis. Steve leaves his brother and sister-in-law, Jeff and Jane Marlin of Wellesley, and his niece Julia and nephew Benjamin. Steve “Fish” Marlin grew up in Lexington and forged his identity during his many summers at Camp Bauercrest in Amesbury. The love and joy Steve shared with others was beautifully reflected in the jam-packed schedule of visitors that traveled far and wide to be with him at his bedside in recent weeks – connections cultivated and maintained from school, camp, business and his wide social circle.
Steve graduated from Lexington High School in 1984, Tufts University in 1988, and later received an MBA from the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University. He worked in business and management consulting, most recently as a self-employed asset liquidator.
Steve was a skilled amateur photographer, producing high-end professional work. He combined this with his love of music as he photographed countless premier touring musicians (including, his favorite, Bruce Springsteen), as well as Hollywood celebrities for various publications, including Rolling Stone magazine. Steve’s photographs can be seen at https://marlinphoto.com/
Steve was a loving, caring friend to so many – loyal, sympathetic, humorous, genuine and encouraging. He brought light to the lives of countless people, from the golf course to the front row and backstage at the live concerts he loved.
There will be a celebration of Steve’s life at Stanetsky Memorial Chapel in Canton, Massachusetts on Tuesday June 7th at 12 pm. Masks are required for the chapel service. Burial to follow at the Falmouth Jewish Cemetery in Falmouth. It was Steve’s desire that the celebration be “business-casual”-no suits required.
In lieu of flowers, Steve asked that donations be made to Camp Bauercrest, 17 Old Country Road, Amesbury, MA 01913, https://www.bauercrest.org, Jeff’s Place, 281 Pleasant Street, Framingham, MA 01701, https://www.jeffsplace.org or the charity of your choice. Shiva will be held at Belmont Country Club, 181 Winter Street, Belmont MA from 2-7 pm on June 8, 2022.
