Born in 1921 in Philadelphia, PA, to Charles and Mary Fine, she was the first of four children. She married David Feldman shortly after his return from World War II. The couple raised three sons, Hal, Donald and Robert.
During the war, Sylvia was among the women recognized today as Rosie the Riveter working on the construction of Navy PBY “Catalina” flying boat aircraft. She loved growing exotic plants and was involved for many years in various plant societies, often recognized with awards, most particularly for African Violets. She was admired by her many friends and her family for her endearing sense of humor, readiness to laugh, kindness, and supportive nature.
Sylvia is survived by her sons Hal, Don and Bob, daughters-in-law Karen and Joelle, grandchildren Jessica and Jacob, and great grandchildren Oliver and Nora.
Graveside services will be held at Sharon Memorial Park, 40 Dedham St., Sharon on Tuesday, January 22 at 10:45AM.
