
Born in New York City, Sylvia grew up in the Bronx, and graduated from Hunter College. She married Israel Hoffman, DDS, in 1940, and was a 54-year resident of Beechhurst, Queens before moving to Brookline, MA in 2005.
She will be remembered most for her strong identity as a New Yorker, her lifelong love of the theater, and her enthusiastic support for liberal causes. For several years, she taught home economics to elementary school children in the New York City public schools.
Sylvia is survived by her daughters Ellen Hoffman (Ken Loveday) and Amy Feldman (Richard), grandchildren Eric Feldman (Michelle) and Rebecca Micucci (Michael), great grandchildren Isabella, Emily, Natalie, Julian, and Sebastian, and sister Beatrice Goodman.
