A tribute to Ted Wayne from his family:
My Dad was an educator by profession. He educated children in Cambridge for over thirty years. He also taught his own children, Steve and Margie, many things beyond reading, writing and arithmetic.
He taught us the importance of family. He knew the value of good friends, of which he had many. This was so important to him and to us. He taught us how to be kind and thoughtful. To be respectful. To help anyone who needed assistance.
He taught us to be a good neighbor and give back to the community.
He also taught us the normal fatherly things like riding a bike, driving a car, applying for college and being home before curfew.
He also fulfilled a dream. As a family, we learned to build a lake home in the lakes region of New Hampshire.
He donated to many charities and for a while contributed a small scholarship to a student at Tufts University Veterinary School of Medicine. He was also a big supporter of charities to support Veterans.
If you asked him, he would tell you of his time in the Army during WWII as a medic in England.
He would tell stories of growing up in Malden and in the Beachmont section of Revere.
He would always tell you of that special day that he met Shirley Tutun*. Later she would be his wife of 51 years and our mother. He was a wonderful son in-law to Jack and Ester Tutun*, Shirley’s parents. He loved his father Samuel* and his sisters Beatrice*, Rae* and Barbara.
Years later Dad would be grandfather to Jared and Elyse, to welcome Devon, Elyse’s husband into the family and then welcoming Patti into the family. He was a really proud Great Grandfather to Gavin and Cecilia.
He was proud of all his family, always.
He was a longtime member of the congregation at Beth El Temple Center in Belmont.
Dad, you will be missed
Love
*Blessed memory
