William L. Goldberg

William "Billy" Goldberg, 88, passed away on July 17, 2026, in Framingham, Massachusetts. Born on February 13, 1938, in Boston, Massachusetts, Billy lived a life marked by quiet strength, ingenuity, and deep devotion to his family.

Billy began his academic and career journey in engineering. This background shaped much of his life; he had a natural talent for tinkering and fixing things. Whether it was repurposing yogurt cups into planters or meticulously carving a turkey with surgical precision during family gatherings, Billy’s resourcefulness and attention to detail were ever-present. Billy always enjoyed finding a good deal, whether it was at Building 19, or the modern day version via Temu.

A man of few words but immense heart, Billy found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He loved gardening and enjoyed maintaining his yard. His children and grandchildren fondly remember the rides he gave them on his lawn mower. He took great pride in growing and sharing his freshly grown vegetables with family, friends and eventually the residents at The Branches. In fact, he turned his apartment at The Branches into a mini-greenhouse. Fishing and time spent in his workshop were among his favorite pastimes. He also cherished his Friday lunches with "the guys" at Kugel's, a tradition that brought him much happiness.

Billy’s love for his family was unwavering. He delighted in watching them enjoy their time together and found happiness in making them happy. Billy expressed his love through his actions, like orchestrating family celebrations of Jewish holidays and becoming a full-time caretaker and protector of his beloved wife Joan through her journey of Alzheimer's. His sense of humor shone through in his fondness for dad jokes, which never failed to bring smiles to those around him.

Later in life, after moving to The Branches community, Billy was often referred to as the "Mayor" as he led services on Friday nights, maintained the garden, helped to fix things around the place, and always welcomed new residents into the community.

Billy had a deep appreciation for life’s little indulgences, whether it was savoring coffee ice cream from Dairy Queen in Falmouth or sitting on the beach at Cape Cod watching the waves roll in. Florida and Hawaii also held special places in his heart as destinations where he found peace and joy.

He never left home without his trusty little black book, a pocket-sized treasure trove of phone numbers and calendar notes that served as his personal organizer long before smartphones. It was always tucked neatly into the pocket of his shirt or pants.

Billy is survived by his loving daughter Staci Rogers and her children Sydney and Rachel; his devoted son Jonathan Goldberg, wife Kristen, and their children Shoshi and Ilan. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Joan Goldberg; son Jeffery Goldberg; parents Sam and Selma Goldberg; and brother Stanley Goldberg.

Billy’s legacy is one of love expressed through action. May the memory of William "Billy" Goldberg bring comfort to all who knew him.

A Graveside Service will be held on July 20, 2026, at 10:45 AM at Sharon Memorial Park. A Shiva will be held on July 20, 2026, from 04:00 PM to 08:00 PM at Staci Rogers' home. Minyan will be at 7:30pm. Additional Shiva will take place on July 26, 2026 at 05:00 PM at Adath Jeshurun Congregation, 10500 Hillside Lane West, Minnetonka, MN.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Goldberg Family Fund at Temple Israel of Natick (145 Hartford Street, Natick, MA 01760) to continue to provide apples for children at the holidays, a tradition that was started by Joan and Bill, following the passing of Jeffrey.
