Cousin Billy was more like a brother when I was a very young boy. I admired and loved him and he will always be a wonderful part of my memories.

I have been a lifelong friend of Billy's brother David since grammar school years.  You could not know a Poplack without knowing them all because they are very much family and all gracious enough to make family friends feel like family. 

Billy was David's big brother but he acted like he was all David 's friends big brother.  We always had fun with him and he taught us much. He was a great example to us all and we all wanted to emulate him in so many ways.  We really admired him. 

I reinforce what others have said about his incredible thoughtfulness and kindness, about his sense of humor and what some touched upon and others implied, the fact that he was a natural mentor.  I know I was the beneficiary many of Billy's wonderful traits including from some kind help and some great advice. 

'The boys' as David and his close friends called ourselves during our school years all wanted to be like Billy in many ways.  I think the world would be a better place if everyone were. 

I am saddened by this loss and my wife's and my thoughts are with Billy's family,

Bill was a fantastic person with a great sense of humor( great jokes) but also with the gift of compassion for patients whom he helped as a Radiologist.
When presented with unusual cases and asked about having seen anything alike, he would humbly say "we've seen that", and in fact he had as he had a great education and was always happy to share with others his wealth of information.
One day he called me to show me the picture of my Professor of Radiology that was posted in the Journal of Radiology as he realized I was going to be surprised with it (Dr Leborgne had been the "father"of mammography and Leonard Morse had a Mobile Mammography van that was manned by his Team.
All in line with giving service to patients which he knew how to do so well.
I will always keep Bill in my memory.

Bill was one of a kind.I had the privilege of working with him for many years and enjoyed his humor,warmth and  strong opinions. When I came home from work, my kids would always ask if I had a new Bill Poplack joke to share. He will be missed and remembered. Don Bachman

Barbara and family my deepest sympathies on your loss. Dr Poplack was working at Leonard Morse when I began my career 28 years ago. He was such a great  man, teacher and mentor. He would get so excited over a great case or a weird pt name... He even had a book that he used to write those names in. I hope the many great memories, jokes and stories bring smiles to all of your faces and peace in your heart. How lucky we all were to have had him in our lives.

While it has been decades since my dear friend Grace (Shohet) allowed me to tag along to various Poplack family break-fasts and celebrations during college, I will not soon forget all the hospitality and good cheer you provided - and Bill was an integral part of that. So I am truly saddened by your loss and wish you comfort during a difficult time.

Bill was a wonderful uncle. He was generous, with cars and dinners and spare bedrooms. He was kind, remembering when I did well and forgetting when I didn't. And he loved a good joke. I will miss him.
