Alba Nydia Rodriquez Miranda was born in Ciales, Puerto Rico on June 23, 1945. She migrated to New York at the age of 5 and was a lifelong resident of Brooklyn where she lived until she passed at the age of 74 on April 7, 2020. Alba graduated from Washington Irving HS in 1963 and shortly thereafter met and wed the love of her life Alexander Miranda.
Alba is survived by her sisters Damaris Rodriquez, Vivian Dindial, and Julie Rosado, her son Alexander Miranda (AJ), her grandchildren Angelica and Justin, and her great-grandson Austin. She now has eternally joined her grandparents Julia and Americo Gonzalez, her parents Julia and Antonio Rosado, her father John Rodriquez, her brother Juan (Nano) Rodriquez, her husband Alexander Sr., and her daughter Lilith.
Ms. Miranda, as she was called by her students, worked as a special education teacher’s assistant for the Board of Education for 32 years until her retirement in 2008. Alba loved children and dedicated her life to them and her family. She loved Brighton Beach, was an avid cook, and made an amazing cheesecake. Alba was known to always bring fresh baked goods and flowers whenever she visited family and friends and always had a warm, loving smile. She will be greatly missed by many. Regrettably and because of the COVID-19 pandemic, no service or gathering is currently planned. A celebration of life service will be scheduled at a future date.
