Anne V. Heaney (nee Coursey)

Mom passed away peacefully in her home on Monday September 9, 2019. She was the deeply treasured wife of the late Peter Edward (married 1961). Anne is survived by her most loving children; Ann, Thomas (Lisa), Mary (Danny), Kathleen (Robert), Patrick (Joan), and John (Carol). She was predeceased by her beloved son Peter Gerard in 1997. She was a devoted grandma to Brianna, PJ, Brittany, Shannon, Meagan, Kevin, Peter, Owen, Nora, Michael, Kaitlin, Patrick, Maureen, Caroline, Peter, Elizabeth, and Brendan and loving great grandmother to Jack.

Mom was born in Brooklyn to Margaret (Murray) and Thomas Coursey. Her adoring parents returned to Ireland and raised her as the eldest sister to Mary Jo, Carmel, Tommy, and Barbara on Inis Shark, Galway. At 16, Anne bravely left her home to study and work in England. She eventually emigrated to the United States to live in Pittsburgh with her aunt. She then moved to Brooklyn, where she met her best buddy Pete at an Irish Dance. They married in Holy Name on June 24, 1961 and raised their kids in Windsor Terrace. They retired to Lake Hopatcong after spending summers with their children and grandchildren at the lake.

Our mom was our rock. She was so loved and will be missed terribly.

How joyous you must be with Peter and Pop-Pop in heaven.

Rest peacefully Mom. Yours was a life well lived.

My deepest sympathy to your family. My mother, Mary (Bonner) Deffner spoke fondly of Anne so often. I think, like Anne, she valued family and especially liked keeping up with her cousins. I like to think of them having a grand reunion in heaven above and smiling down on all of us.

With love,

Joe Deffner and Sarah Martel

Pat, Joan and family...while we did not get to know her the way our daughter Angelina did, Julie and I are honored to have had the pleasure of meeting her while at your house on St. Patrick's Day. Our deepest sympathies to all of you. May she R.I.P.

Pat, Joan,
Our deepest condolences for your loss. Mrs Heaney was such a blessing on our block - she always had a smile for us and the boys, a kind word and a memory to share of life back home. We are with you in our hearts and at your disposal if we can help in any way.

Patrick, Joan, and family:

My thoughts and prayers are with you now and through the next few days as you mourn the passing of your dear mother, mother-in-law, and grandmother. You showered her with love and care in these past few years --as well as these past few months --and I hope that knowledge will bring some comfort knowing that your care and love enveloped her in last days.

May God bless you and support you.
Yvonne

"Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console; to be understood as to understand; to be loved as to love for it is in giving that we receive; it is in pardoning that we are pardoned; and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life."
