I met with Ben at the NYC DOB BEST Squad very often for several years, and he was always a pleasure to speak with. He always had interesting anecdotes about the literature he enjoyed and a great sense of humor.  He will be greatly missed. 

I first met Ben  in NYC safety unit as an expediter and he was the DEMO examiner.  

Over the years we became good friends and had many laughs with his jokes and  Irish literature translated into Russian he loved to enlighten me with. One such poem was called Sheila O'Neil which became my Nick name to him.  He had me ask one of my Russian co-workers to translate and it for me and it ended up being a funny poem   about a husband who rather face the bullets of war then Sheila O'Neil, We had a good laugh over his gag on me.

Ben would show me all the beautiful pictures of his trips to Russia and talk about his son in Boston. 
 Ben always greeted me with a big smile even if it was to tell me he will disapproved.  He was full of life and loved life, and I will truly miss my good friend Ben.

I had known Ben for a number of years as an Examiner of my applications at DOB.  I always enjoyed chatting with him. He was especially animated when talking about old times in Russia.  I will miss those chats.
