Camille A. Toto was born in Brooklyn on July 20, 1941. She was the fourth and youngest child of Charles and Carmella Toto and their only daughter. She was a graduate of Lafayette High School and the Heffley & Browne Secretarial School. She had a four decade career with Western Electric Company and its successors in the AT&T family including AT&T and Lucent. Following her initial retirement, she embarked on a second career with Catholic Charities of Brooklyn and Queens lending her skills to one of her beloved borough’s most important nonprofit corporations. She was a leader in the community serving as a long-time volunteer at Saints Simon and Jude Roman Catholic Church in many volunteer capacities including as a member of the Parish Hospitality Council for many years.
Although she never married, she showered her nieces and nephews with time and affection. She was an important part of their lives celebrating countless baptisms, confirmations, graduations, weddings, birthdays and holidays with her extended family. She was predeceased by her parents and her brothers Peter and James. She is survived by her brother Gaspare and sister in law Nancy, sister in law Addie, niece Carolyn and her husband Robert, and nephews Charles and his wife Cathie, Peter and his wife Chrissy, James and his wife Michele and Martin and his wife Tracey, along with 13 grand nieces and nephews.
Her health deteriorated quickly over the past several months and she passed away quietly on April 8, 2018. Her quick wit and sunny disposition will be missed by her family and a host of life-long friends, neighbors and former colleagues.
