Remembering Carlos on this day and always. 

I remember Carlos’s smiling eyes and sense of humor. 

Our Heart goes out to the Hernandez Family.  Carlos will always be remembered as a great person who was always willing to help and give advice.  As a child, growing up in the neighborhood, I remember him being like an Uncle, someone you can ride your bike up to and talk to for a few mins and he would always have a pleasant personality and smile. My Uncle use visit his office all the time for advice on real estate, he was someone who loved to help and had patience. He will be missed.  Thanks for your service and may you Rest In Peace. 

Aloha from Hawaii. Carlos was mi cunado (Brother-in-law) for over 50 years.  

I remember when we first met. He was dating my sister Peggy and they later married.  He had just come back from serving as a sergeant in Vietnam.  He never talked about his time there or what he did. I subsequently found out he was a tunnel rat. I understand why he didn’t want to talk about it.

During the time that he was dating Peggy there were a variety of different incidents that I remember.  One was when he decided he was going to drink Peggy under the table.  He took a couple of tablespoons of honey to coat his stomach.  His decision to coat his stomach failed.   He ended up under the table!

I remember that he owned  a 1963? Impala, four door.  Our  grandmother moved out of her 5 floor walk up.  My sister wanted most of  her furniture. We loaded it on the roof of the Impala and drove it back to Brooklyn. Back then you could do that and use cars as moving vans.

Another time we were out on the belt parkway when we observed a similar Impala abandoned in a turn off.  The turn off had become an unauthorized pick a part. The Impala needed a door and the pick a part car had one.  We stopped broke out the tools and removed the door. My job was to hold up the door while Carlos removed it. It did fall off rather suddenly but missed my foot by inches.  While we didn’t set an Olympic record we got it off, stored and then were off in a loud of dust.

I  liked working on projects w him.  He was a regular at stores like Odd Lots and other wholesalers that sold tools .  He regularly brought home different tools that while not the highest quality they got the job done.  He usually had 3 of each. He taught me a lot and more importantly he did a lot of projects for me.

He helped us buy our first home a brownstone. We made $ on it. He helped us buy our second home.  He always there for Kathy and I.  He was a  true giver. He loved a challenge and helping  people.  He will be missed. ❤️

Carlos Hernandez, or Uncle Carlos to my sister and I, is sorely missed.  
He was truly a one of a kind person, a Legend, as his son Bryan aptly dubbed him.   
Some of my earliest memories of being in New York City include endless amusement and fascination with Carlos; he was an extremely animated person with an extroardinarliy expressive face (I think I must have picked up some of that from him!) who never failed to make my sister and I laugh, even when threatening to dangle us by our ankles out of my Grandma's 3rd story apartment window!  
Living on the opposite side of the country, we didn't get to visit as much as we would have liked, but whenever we did get the families together, there was always many opportunities for fun and laughter! 
I remember being especially impressed with his ice skating prowess when we visited as teens, he definitely left my sister and I in the "dust" on the rink, literally skating circles around us!!!
I also remember hanging out at Carlos and Peggy's house with their giant doberman Cheetah, staying up late and Carlos trying to teach us the preliminaries of poker, betting with pennies!   Babysitting at it's finest!  
He is greatly missed by all who knew him, but we're so thankful to have had such a kind, funny person as Carlos in our lives.

My treasured brother-in-law, you welcomed me into your family nearly forty years ago, and never ceased to be a loving presence in my life. So many memories of times shared with you, our families, the beautiful daughters John and I brought into our lives, the encouragement you provided in helping us buy our first home, ice skating in Prospect Park, your appreciation of meals I prepared for you...all this and more  creates a rich and enduring legacy never to be forgotten. You meant so much to so many people, Carlos...and will always have a special place in my heart. Godspeed, dear one!

My heart goes out to the Hernandez family. My mother and I will have you in our thoughts and prayers.  I remember  Don Carlos as a sweet and kind man. An uncle figure. The first time I met him I was 7 years old. He would always greet my brothers and I with a smile. May you rest in heavenly peace.

I have tons of memories of Loslo.  Shared holiday dinners, Smoking cubans in my backyard, Him YELLING and getting out of the Jeep on a road trip and walking the last few blocks . . . BUT Cards.  I loved playing cards with him.  We used to play low stakes.  When he won he would always rake in the winnings and when he lost it was always with a hilariously animated face and gesture.  A true gentleman and a true friend of the family. He is missed terribly  

One memory that I have with Carlos brings me back to when I (Robert) was a kid,  and he took us to the beach and we cooked crabs on the rocks. Carlos was always so helpful to us ( my wife and I) when we bought our house in Florida, Carlos and Peggy would spend weeks in the summer with us  either in Florida or in Puerto Rico and just do anything together going to the beach, eating out ,  watching tv or hanging out by the pool. We remember when our kids use to bury him in the sand and  he would come out and chase them around till they were all in the water at the beach.  We will miss u dearly Carlos , we love you 

I have a lot of found memories with Uncle Carlos like when  him and I played baby together and how he taught me to play chess and we would play in the pool and he would shoot water at my friend and I, and he would also make sounds like a seal in the water. One memory in particular I have is of when we were in Puerto Rico and we walked from the house we were at to Elba’s house and had ice cream and spoke along the way. I’ll miss you Uncle Carlos

Just wanted to share a remembrance of father.
The few months I spent with you and your family, I was kinda like a fish out of water. I have always been a bit awkward in new situations, the first Sunday dinner at your parents house your father realized this and totally put me at my ease with his calm welcoming presence. Offering me wine and making me a part of family was awesome! I just wanted to let you know. A great man!

I know Carlos for many years . I want to remember the Good Times Good Memories of Dinners after Church on a Saturday night with my husband and Carlos and Peggy.Our Time when we went to AC and enjoyed the pool and casino and Carlos loved the pool He loved to be humorous and would swim under the water come up fast and make these great Seal noises and make everyone in the pool laugh Good Memories  of a Good Man

What I remember about Carlos, was how he was always ready to be helpful.  Long ago, I had two medical alert medals on two separate chains, which were bulky to wear.  Peggy said - Carlos can put those medals on one chain for you - which he immediately did.  And I also remember him going over to help a newly widowed friend put the heat on when winter was beginning.  

I have know Peggy for 22 years and subsequently met Carlos. Carlos had a unique sense of humor and was always in a good mood. 
My favorite memory of Carlos was when he competed in gymnastics with my daughter and did a cartwheel in my very narrow hall. For the longest time my kids ( who were in elementary school) referred to him as the “cartwheel” guy.

I will miss you Carlos. Love and prayers to Peggy, Mark and his family, and Bryan and his family.

Anytime we would go to visit Carlos and our caregiver, he would always have a smile on his face. The caregiver did a great job with Carlos and truly cared about his safety and well being. Our thoughts and prayers are with Peggy and all of the family.

I would greet Carlos every morning when he arrived at the memory center, I will never forget that smile and that sparkle in his eyes. Carlos was very special to everyone, he liked to dance and had a good sense of humor. Peggy and Carlos were regulars at our Memory Art Cafes. We are so sorry to hear of Carlos' passing, our love and support go out to Peggy and their family.

I knew my friend Carlos best through the stories Peggy shared. His adventurous mischievous nature, kind heart and generosity were a treasure to all who knew him. Fly high my friend.

I will always remember his laugh and the smile that was reserved for his wife, both touched my heart.  The time spent at St. Albans was short, but the love and friendships will last a lifetime.  Your pals are waiting...rest easy my friend.

I got to know Carlos quite well over the past couple of years.  Whenever I walked onto the unit he greeted me with a smile.  I will miss him dearly.

I will always remember Carlos’s laugh. I had the esteem honor to care for Carlos while he was at the St.Albans CLC as his girl Friday recreation assistant. One of my favorite memories of Carlos and Peggy was at the Broad Channel Yacht Club.  I watched him laugh and smile and enjoy the fresh air, good seafood, good music and most importantly his favorite girl Peggy. Will his miss immensely. My prayers and hugs go out to Peggy and family. Thanks for sharing him with all of us at St.Albans CLC

I shall always remember my friend, Carlos Hernandez , for his pleasant and uniquely charming greeting each time we met.   It was an honor and a pleasure to have know him.
