Dear Tía Irene, Mercedes, Carmen, Gloria, Julio and family,

Please accept my deepest condolences on the passing of Tío César. I will always remember him as someone full of joy, always ready to engage in thoughtful and sometimes challenging conversations that made us think, reflect, and laugh.

I still vividly remember the first time I met him in New York when I was just 8 or 9 years old, visiting from Peru. Tío César walked through the apartment door carrying Christmas gifts—and that’s when I received my first Connect Four game. As a child growing up in Peru, it was uncommon to have deep, meaningful conversations with adults. But Tío César was different. He was the first adult who truly talked to me—long conversations filled with advice, dreams, and humor. That was the happiest Christmas of my childhood, and it remains one of my most treasured memories.

Later, as a young college student, I continued to benefit from his wisdom. He never hesitated to share his hopes and expectations for us young Peruvian immigrants, encouraging us to work hard and make the most of our lives in New York. His words left a lasting impact.

Thank you, Tío César, for your kindness, your encouragement, and for giving me memories that will stay with me forever.

To you, Tía Irene, and the entire family, I send you all my love and heartfelt sympathy during this difficult time.
