Donald R. Herb

Donald Robert Herb, 82 of Brooklyn, NY passed away on December 16, 2025. He was the beloved son of the late Donald C. and Helen Herb and brother Henry R. Herb. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Janis Herb, their loving children Jordana and Darille along with her husband John and his cherished grandchildren Matthew, Joseph, Jenna and Gabrielle.

Don was born on May 19, 1943 in Brooklyn, NY. He graduated from William E. Grady Vocational High School and immediately began his career as a Stationary Fireman at Grady. In addition, he worked as a Longshoreman in New Jersey for a number of years. Don was mechanically inclined. He loved to take things apart and build projects in his spare time. He would spend countless hours in his basement working on the smallest projects. He loved the water and his speed boat in his early years. He took engines apart and built them from scratch and lived for the thrills. Don retired at the age of 62.

Don met his wife at the age of 5 living across the street from one another. He adored her and lived for her. His four grandchildren were his pride and joy and he would do anything for them.

Don was one of a kind and whoever knew him will remember him for his vivid storytellings. He had a deep interest in science and history and was always so fascinated by how things came to be.

Visitation services will be held at Cusimano & Russo Funeral Home, located at 2005 West 6th St, Brooklyn, NY 11223, on December 22, 2025, from 9:00 am to 10:00 am.

Interment will take place at Moravian Cemetery, 2205 Richmond Rd, Staten Island, NY 10306, on December 22, 2025, from 11:30 am to 12:00 pm.
