Born on July 14, 1930, in Brooklyn, Dorothy was a lifelong Brooklyn resident whose 96 years were defined by family, devotion, strength, and love. She shared her life with her beloved husband, Joseph Marucci, until his passing on July 28, 2006. Together, they built a family that would remain the center of Dorothy’s world throughout her life.
Dorothy dedicated her life to caring for the people she loved. As a devoted homemaker and caregiver, she created a home where her family was always cared for and where the needs of those around her so often came before her own. Her gentle and selfless nature was simply a part of who she was, and those fortunate enough to be loved by Dorothy knew just how deeply she loved.
Some of Dorothy’s greatest joys came from spending time with her great-granddaughters, Gia and Viviana. She also loved settling in to watch Turner Classic Movies and the Hallmark Channel, and she could always appreciate having a sweet treat, morning, noon, or night.
Dorothy was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, but perhaps one of the greatest gifts she leaves behind is the example of her immeasurable strength. Throughout her long life, she faced both joy and profound loss, yet continued forward with a quiet strength and an enduring devotion to her family.
Dorothy is survived by her son, Joseph Marucci, and daughter-in-law, Deborah Marucci; her grandchildren, Marissa Marucci and Thomas Henderson; and her great-grandchildren, Gia Duggan and Viviana Duggan.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Joseph Marucci, her daughter, Barbara Henderson (née Marucci and her son-in-law, Thomas Henderson Sr.
Dorothy’s 96 years cannot be measured simply by the number of years she lived, but by the generations she loved, cared for, and helped shape. Her gentleness, selflessness, devotion to family, and extraordinary strength will live on through all of them.
She will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever carried in the hearts of those who were blessed to call her Mom, Grandma, and Great-Grandma.
