Born in Brooklyn to Ernesto and Carmen Alvarez. He is survived by his son Eric, daughter Samantha (Muñeca), granddaughter Cataleya, grandsons Joseph, Manuel, further survived by loving siblings, nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
Ernesto worked for many years at The Links Club, enjoyed watching Sci Fi, and loved working with his hands. All those who knew him intimately knew that he was more than a knife enthusiast, but an avid collector; the more unique the better.
He wasn't a flashy man, so you would never have to wait on him to be fashionably late. If you were to ask anyone, his signature look were those famous progressive lenses, flannel shirts/sweatshirt (with a wolf or eagle on it), jeans, sneakers and last but not least his cane and tobacco pipe.
Ernesto will be fondly remembered by family and friends as a loving father, husband, grandfather, brother and friend to all. We will forever remember those inviting hazel eyes, the loving smile hidden by his thick beard and mustache, the kind and gentle spirit who was our gentle giant. While it is difficult to picture our lives without him we are comforted knowing he has been reunited with the love of his life, Judith Evan Alvarez.
