July 30, 1931 – November 2, 2018
Filomena (nee: Mancino) Riccio was born in Italy on July 30, 1931.
She came to America from a very devout Catholic family. She carried her faith with her to her new country and attended Mass daily. In January 1970, she married William (Guillermo) Riccio. They settled in the Gravesend section of Brooklyn and she was an active parishioner at St. Simon and St. Jude. She was a member of the Rosary Altar Society and the Legion of Mary Prayer Group. Fr. Matthew was a special friend to the family and assisted Filomena in attending special family gatherings.
Filomena was a caring wife to William and loved to cook, bake, sew and crochet.
Filomena was pre-deceased by her husband William, and is survived by a sister Maria in Italy, a sister in law Mary Black, brother in law Edward Black of NJ, and her family of cousins, nieces and nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews. The family sincerely thanks the parish, neighbors and her many friends that helped her during her later years alone after William’s passing in 2013. Filomena will be interred in St. Charles Cemetery with her deceased sister in law and brother in law, Josephine and Vincent Riccio.
