Born in Italy, Giuseppa came to America in 1955 in search of opportunity and a better life. In June of 1955, she married the love of her life, Giovanni (John) D’Avola from her hometown Vizzini, Italy. Once here together, they built a family filled with tradition and resilience.
Giuseppa lived in Brooklyn and worked as seamstress for over 35 years, specializing in bridesmaid gowns. Giuseppa was an incredible wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, known especially for her warmth, fierce devotion to her family, and her legendary cooking. She loved playing the slots at Atlantic City and had weekly card games with her friends. Giuseppa’s games of choice were Poker and May I, which she was always happy to teach you.
Giuseppa is survived by her devoted husband, John; children Rose, Salvatore, and Gregory; granddaughters Elissa, Jamie, and Sandra; and great-grand daughter, Riley. Her family was her greatest joy, and her legacy lives on through each of them.
Giuseppa will be remembered for her strength, her generosity, her unwavering love, her spirit and quick wit and the traditions she passed down through generations. Though she will be deeply missed, her spirit, lessons, and love will remain forever in the hearts of those who knew her.
