Irene Mirra

December 19, 1928 – October 24, 2026

Irene Mirra was a true Brooklyn girl, born and raised in the place she always called home. She lived a life filled with love, laughter, family, and treasured memories. She was known for her playful spirit, warm heart, beautiful smile, and fashionable hats that were as much a part of her as her cheerful personality.

Irene’s greatest joy was the love she shared with the children in her life. Beloved Aunt to MaryAnne, Teresa, Anthony, Emilio, Phil, Mary and Daniela. Beloved Grand-Aunt to Gina, Nicole, James, Christina, Shannon, Daniel, Jonathan, Peter and Cathryn. Beloved Great Grand-Aunt to fourteen and still growing. She leaves behind a family forever touched by her warmth, kindness and affection.

Proud of her Italian heritage, Irene enjoyed delicious meals at local restaurants, a good glass of wine, and the simple pleasures of good food, music and family. She especially loved Brighton Beach, where she swam in the ocean almost daily in her youth.

Irene had a soft heart and a kindness that extended to all living things. She loved feeding the birds in her garden, always making sure the little sparrows had a chance to eat before the larger birds swooped in and took the food. Irene had a smile for everyone that lit up the room. She had a love of music and always accompanied the church choir regularly with her sister, Anne. Though she is no longer with us, the memories she created and the love she gave so generously will never fade.

Her legacy lives on through the generations of family she adored, the laughter she inspired, and the countless acts of love that defined her life.

Forever loved, forever missed, and forever in our hearts.

Rest peacefully, dear Irene, together again with your sisters and your parents.

A Funeral Service will be held at Guardian Angel RC Church, 2978 Ocean Pkwy, New York, NY 11235, US, on October 29, 2026, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm.

A Committal Service will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery, 3620 Tilden Ave, New York, NY 11203, US, on October 29, 2026, from 1:00 pm to 1:30 pm.
