
Mary Isabelle Quelch (nee Kennedy) passed away peacefully on May 15, 2016. Born in Harbor Grace, Newfoundland, 101 years ago, she was the ninth of eleven children born to John and Sophie Kennedy, and the last remaining of her seven brothers and three sisters. Her family emigrated from Canada to the United States in 1921 and settled in Brooklyn. She graduated from Bishop McDonald High School in 1933. She was predeceased by her husband of 32 years, Joseph L. Quelch, and her eldest son, Joseph (Larry). She is survived by her sons, Richard and Gerard, and daughter Jeanine Gade, and grandsons Richard, Peter and Joseph Quelch. She was a loving mother-in-law to Debra, Lisa, Dina and Charles. She is also survived by a large extended family of nieces and nephews as well as great and great great nieces and nephews. A devout Catholic, her family and her faith were her greatest joys. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in her memory to Priests for Life (www.priestsforlife.org), a charitable organization devoted to the protection of the unborn.
Visitation will be Thursday from 2-5 and 7-9. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday at 11:00 am at St. Patrick's Church, Bay Ridge. Interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery.
