Jacinto Reinaldo Espino, kindly referred to as “Chinto” passed away on February 14, 2021. Unfortunately, he had been hospitalized since December 8, 2020 in Methodist Hospital with Covid, this dreadful and unforgiving virus.
Born in Guarare, Province of Los Santos, Panama he lived a simple farm life with his parents Severino Espino and Augustina Vergara de Espino, along with his 11 siblings. He traveled from Guarare to Panama City in 1958 to continue his education. Shortly after, he met the love of his life, Nadia Sanchez, in 1959. They married December 24, 1966. Their first daughter Nadiana Evans was born on April 2, 1968 and their second daughter Gissette Espino soon followed on May 27, 1969.
In 1970, Chinto emigrated to the United States on his own to pursue a better life. He settled in the borough of Brooklyn and was reunited with his young family in 1971. He worked briefly in the restaurant industry until he was hired in June 1972 at Rockefeller Center. He started as a maintenance worker and became foreman years later in the division. He remained a faithful and dedicated employee for 48 years until December 2020.
Jacinto personified honesty, loyalty, and dedication in all aspects of his life. He found joy in so many things. Drinking a black cup of coffee while he watched the news. Traveling and exploring the world. We were glad to have experienced a few of those trips with him.
He was a jack of all trades. He never gave up until the task was completed. He was an exceptional son, brother, husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, uncle, cousin, father-in-law, and friend. He was loved by many.
Jacinto is survived by 6 siblings, countless nieces, and nephews as well as his wife, children and grandchildren, Nadia Matos, Adina Matos, Aidan Martinez, Sean Evans, and last but not least, his partner in crime, his great granddaughter Sophia Matos Roman.
He will be forever remembered for his unselfish love and devotion that he expressed to all.
We love you now and always.
