Jane Rochford-Weaver

Jane Marie Weaver (née Rochford) passed away in her home at 75 years of age beside her loving husband of 45 years, on August 10, 2026. Jane was born on September 22, 1950 to Martin Rochford and Agnes Rochford (née Heavey) in Brooklyn, NY. Jane completed her elementary school education at Holy Cross School before attending St. Brendan’s High School and Brooklyn College. She obtained her bachelor's degree in education, which she used to launch a career as a teacher within various catholic schools. She most notably taught computer science at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Academy prior to the true introduction of computer education in a school setting. Jane was a true pioneer in the age of internet development and was famous for her ability to use efficient methods of research for both academic and recreational purposes. She most notably enjoyed using the internet to collect antique silverware and create beautiful, complete dining sets. Her years of research and collecting afforded her the ability to identify patterns, their obscure antique utensils and give a brief history on their development. She became so knowledgeable, she began selling valuable silver items donated to the Our Lady of Grace church thrift shop online to increase the shop’s profit margin. When she wasn’t increasing profits, she occupied her time with those around her. Jane was a fiercely loyal daughter, wife, mother, sister, grandmother and friend. She was more than willing to donate her time, money and resources to any of her loved ones if they needed assistance, while refusing recognition. Jane was known to help her loved ones with childcare, care for ailing family members, tutor neighborhood children for free and dote on her grandchildren. She was the force of nature at any gathering. Jane famously refused to leave any event without clearing the last dish or wiping the last counter top after any holiday gathering. Despite Jane’s extremely generous spirit , she was also known for extreme practicality. She very famously held onto a Costco-sized ketchup bottle for years, despite the clearly stamped expiration date. Those that spent summers with her at Breezy Point Surf Club are all too familiar with the famous ketchup. She enjoyed summers spent with her family at Breezy Point Surf Club both during her childhood and to raise her family. Jane is survived by her husband, Gary Weaver, her daughters, Kathryn Weaver and Frances Weaver (Drew Johnson), her two grandchildren: Robert and Charlotte, her siblings, Mary Ann Caskin (Edward), Martin Rochford (Diane), Noreen Rochford (Scott McLaughlin), Patrick Rochford (Carmela) and Regina Rush (Frank) and her many nieces and nephews. She will be deeply missed by those she leaves behind.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Montefiore Einstein Comprehensive Cancer Center, where she was receiving treatment for pancreatic cancer.

Visitation will be held at Cusimano & Russo Funeral Home, 2005 West 6th St, Brooklyn, NY 11223, US, on August 13, 2026, from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm and again from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm, and on August 14, 2026, from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm and again from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm.

A Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of Grace RC Church, 2322 E 4th St, Brooklyn, NY 11223, on August 15, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am.
