Kathleen 'Beno' Carter Richardson was a devoted mother, doting granmother, loving sister, caring family member, faithful friend and an eager worshipper. January 11th, 1956 was the year that God saw fit to call her into existence and would grace her with 56 wonderful years, before calling her to walk in his heavenly presence. During her sojourn on earth she faced life bravely; overcoming every challenge that came her way. Her strength was legendary, sustaining her even through the illness that would ultimately bring us to this day of remembrance and thanksgiving. But Beno, as she was known by those that knew her best, was much more than just this.
Born on the island of Trinidad, she migrated to the United States to seek greener pastures for both herself and her son. Never one to be idle, she worked hard to ensure that her family was well taken care of. A Passion for education saw her in various teaching positions particularly at the primary school level in Trinidad. Beno always kept herself occupied and those that knew her best knew that a visit to her home meant they could get caught up in on of her many pet projects. She liked things done the right way which was her way; never compromising her beliefs even if it meant she may lose favor with those she cared about. She loved her family, her friends, her church, The Brooklyn Tabernacle, and some say most importantly-HER COMPUTER!!!
Kathleen is survived by her son Arden, her grandchildren Jelani and Nia, her mother Cynthia, her five sisters, Irma, Jean, Joan, Laura and Donna, as well as her two brothers Gregory and Robin. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews and her sister-in-law Ruth (a source of great strength, love and comfort throughout the years). We remember her as a person that loved to travel and rejoice now as she makes the ultimate journey into the arms of her loving saviour- Jesus Christ.
