On April 26, 1941, in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico, Maria and Israel Cordero, welcome their son, Marcelino into the world. After the death of his of wife, Israel later married Carmen Perez and had two daughters. The family then moved to New York City's Lower East Side of Manhattan. Marcelino was a devout Christian and became an Altar Boy at St. Augustine Church during his teenage years. While attending Seward Park High School, he met his wife and lifelong companion of 59 years, Mildred Thomas. His loving mother-in-law Wallena (Nanny) Thomas welcomed him as a son. This union produced four wonderful children, Marleyne, Michael, Ricardo and Lisa. Marcy was a machinist by trade and devoted most of his time to family. Marcy was an avid sports fan who loved the San Francisco Giants, the New York football Giants, and the New York Yankees. Anyone who knows Marcy, knows the word "Great" begins and ends with Willie Mays! His passion for sports led him to 20 years of coaching little league baseball at the PAL, which later became the Shorefront Baseball League. Marcy coached dozens of kids from the Marlboro Houses and throughout the Gravesend area. Men who are now grandfathers tell stories of Marcy teaching them to hit and field. His impact on the lives of so many, cannot be overstated. He leaves to mourn his loving wife Mildred, sons Michael and Ricardo, daughter Lisa, grandchildren Hector, Cyré, Briana, Ricardo Jr., Tiffany, Chelsie and India, great-grandson Hector Jr., siblings Carmen Celia and Miriam, their families and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews. Thank you all and God bless.
