Margo was born in Norwood MA in 1968; She is survived by her husband John J. McQueeney Jr. (McWeeney), her children Declan G. McQueeney (19) and Severine P. McQueeney (16); her mother Jo-Ann Gibson of Shelby NC; her father William B. Gibson and his wife Dolly Gibson of Akron OH, and her brother Miles Gibson and his wife Andrea Gibson, of Shelby NC.
Margo attended college in Boston, at both Emerson College and Massachusetts College of Art. Margo lived in Boston for eight years and she made many lifelong friends there while working at the ICA, freelance painting, and living in industrial lofts in Fort Point Channel and on Thayer St. in the South End. After college, Margo attended Cobalt, a painting school for scenic art (theatrical backdrops) in the Catskills, where again she also made many close friends. She worked full-time as a painter for theatre, especially at the Goodspeed Opera House in CT and for Off-Broadway productions in NYC. Margo also got to do high end decorative painting in the mansions of rich people around the country. After having kids, Margo transitioned to bookkeeping and worked for Caliper Studio, an architecture & metal fabrication shop in East Williamsburg, Brooklyn, until she passed away.
Margo loved her Brooklyn neighborhood of Fort Greene/Clinton Hill where she resided for 26 years and again made many great friends. Margo fought hard to make sure her children got the best education possible and both kids attended the The Co-op School of Clinton Hill/Bed-Stuy (for pre-school); Community Roots Charter School for Elementary and Middle School (Fort Greene), and Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School (the “Fame” school) in Manhattan, with additional support from Brooklyn Learning Center, and Art Workshop Experience (AWE) (in Brooklyn.)
Besides hanging out with her family, Margo loved to see bands play live; listen to the radio, esp. KEXP, WMBR, and WNYC; hang out at dive bars with friends & co-workers, and eat Japanese food.
