Marie: a person of unwavering moral clarity, razor sharp judgement and a brilliant mind. She set a rock solid example of the best work, professional and personal behaviour for everyone she met. All this with a terrifyingly surgical humor....always.
She always helped me to be a better person...always.
She would have wanted me to say this with more humor. "Some people are people and some are fish." I think Marie's mother said that?
Well...........Marie was people!

Marie and I became the closest of friends our freshman year of high school. There was a third friend, Susan. We were as thick as thieves. We would often vote on who was the funniest, Marie or me. Marie would vote for herself, I would vote for myself, and Susan would cast the deciding vote. Sometimes I won, and sometimes Marie won. Fast forward 25 years, and I called Marie one night. We talked for about ten minutes, when her husband Steve took the phone from her and said to me, “you have my vote. I’ve never heard her laugh so hard in all the time I’ve known her.” I replied, “but you haven’t heard me howling with laughter on the other end of the phone.” She was the funniest person I’ve ever known. (Except for me.)

I will miss her.

We just had our annual year-end get-together (by Zoom, this year). We all wished it wasn’t without Marie. We shared memories and pictures. If we could have, there would have been collective hugs. Please know that your friends are keeping you in their thoughts.
