Born Marilyn Agnes Haddad in Brooklyn, New York, Marilyn was the second child of Agnes and Thomas Haddad, and she had two brothers, Mickey (Kathy) and Ray (Joann).
Marilyn also had two children, Jackie and Tommy, and four grandchildren (from Jackie and her husband Tim), Benjamin, Aynsley, Matthew and Maeve. Marilyn is also survived by, the love of her life, Pat Rogers, and his children, Nancy (Greg), Tommy (Jackie), Kathy (Rick), and Trish (Jim), and his grandchildren, Tara, Andrew, Allison, Grace, Heather, Patrick, Sean, Mary, Terry, Fiona and Nora.
Marilyn spent her whole life in Brooklyn, and was very proud of it. She moved into her Park Slope apartment when she left her parents home in 1967 and never left. She was a neighborhood staple and was referred to as “the mayor” by her family.
Marilyn was the school librarian at St. Savior Elementary school, her alma mater, from 1975 until 2015. It was there she taught her children, her children’s friends, and her children’s friends children.
Marilyn came from a very large family full of many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends, who were always considered extended family. She loved spending time with each and every one of them. Summer trips to Arcola, Monday nights at the bowling alley, Sunday lunch at Aggie’s, Evie’s or Mitzi’s, walks in prospect park, breakfast at the diner, parish functions, morning coffee, trips to Atlantic City, and just about anything involving her grandchildren…were only a sampling of the many things she enjoyed doing with her loved ones.
Marilyn and Pat had more than 40 wonderful years together. During that time they worked together, traveled together, dined together, enjoyed their friends, their families and welcomed a combined 15 grandchildren, together. They shared a beautiful life and a beautiful love that touched many.
Marilyn led her life in a very quiet, simple way but she loved with all her heart and soul. She will be wholeheartedly missed by all those who loved her.
