Mark Edward Steingass, age 53, of Brooklyn, New York, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Saturday, February 18, 2023.
Beloved brother, nephew, cousin, uncle, coworker, and friend, Mark will be remembered for his unfailing smile and the positive and gentle attitude he always brought to his life and work. Mark grew up in Baltimore, Maryland in a large extended family, ventured to California during college years, returned east to Baltimore, then settled in New York where he lived the past decade. He loved biking daily across Brooklyn and beyond, computing, photography, calligraphy, and his indoor garden. Mark was also an avid reader and a sports fan, following his hometown Orioles through it all. Mark especially enjoyed working with his many coworkers at Whole Foods in New York, and he treasured any get-together with his family.
Mark leaves us far too soon. We are heartened to hear of the joy he brought to so many, and that he was looking forward to future adventures. Mark is survived by sisters Susan Steingass (Carlos Naudon) of Brooklyn, and Anne Steingass of Sterling VA; brothers Henry Steingass (Lynne, nee Akerson) of Washington DC, and Stephen Steingass (Julie, nee MacDonald) of Winter Park FL; and loving aunts, nieces, nephews, and first cousins across the country. Mark was predeceased by parents Irene (nee Rodgers) Steingass and Eric P. Steingass, Sr., and brother E. Peter Steingass, Jr.
Information about a future memorial will be added to this notice in the near future.
