Mom, it's been 5 years since your passing. There isn't one day that goes by that you are not in my heart.  I miss hearing your voice and seeing you smile.  You have been so much a part of my life. Everything I am I give thanks to you. How I wish I could hug you and tell you how much I love you.  Rest in peace Mom.

Hi Mom, it has been a long time since I've written to you.  So many things have happened since I last wrote to you.  First let me say that because I haven't written to you does not mean that I am not thinking about you. As a matter of fact I think about you every single day that goes by. This past March 14th has been 2 years since you went to the next life in another room in Heaven.  Gladys and I moved to Florida this past summer. We bought a Condo in a 55+ Community. It is a beautiful place here in Port Charlotte Florida.  Gladys and I are working in the Public Schools here, I am Subbing in the High Schools and Gladys is working with the young students like she did in Brooklyn NY. I am playing in a Latin Salsa Band here and we are enjoying our lives here in Florida. Oh how I wish you were here with me. I know you would love the pool here and enjoy the sunshine.  I miss you so much Mom. When I hear a song, look at a photo or video of you and when I smell your scarfs that I have in my drawer I immediately get transported to  you and your Love.  I Love you Mom with my heart and soul and I know that I will have to learn to live without your physical presence in my life.  Everything I am Mom you are always present.  I am a musician because you loved me so much and you made sure I took music lessons with Alfred Granese when I was young. Through the music lessons I became a music teacher and made a living from it.  You are in every part and fiber of my being. I talk about you all the time with family and friends.  Today is Saint Joseph's. Roe sent me a text wishing me a happy name day.  You always made Saint Joseph's Day special for me with Italian cookies and pastry.  Thank you Mom.  Gladys and I go to Church every Sunday and I thank you for giving me the Love for the Catholic Faith and Church. I even go to Bible study class on Thursdays through the middle of April. I will try to write more on this site.  Mom, you are always with me.  I Love You.

Hi Mom, I miss you so so much. My heart aches for you every day. I Love you so so much. Today there was a Memorial Mass  sponsored by Cussimano and Russo Funeral Home.  I was so proud when your name was read out loud.  Mike the director from Cussimano and Russo was there and spoke a bit.  I want you to know Mom that your life's lessons that you taught me are with me. I think of all the things you have taught me over the years.  Thank you Mama.   Joseph Salerno's name was also mentioned along with many others. I know you are singing and dancing with the Angels.  You are now with Dad, Grandma, Grandpa and all of your relatives and friends. Thank you for watching over me. I heard you tell me that I took care of you all these years and it is ok for me to move to Florida with Gladys and enjoy my life.  I heard you Mom, I really did. Hi Mom, I miss you so so much. There is so much going on that i don't even know where to begin. Charlie Gelo passed from Ryder Street. Gladys's brother Francisco passed away as well.I know that you see both of them in Heaven now. It has been one year on March 14th, 2018 that you went Home to be with the Lord. It has been a difficult year for me because I miss you soooo soooo much. I know that you want me to live and that I will do. On March 17th 2018th, Saint Patrick's Day(the one year anniversary that you were laid to rest next to Dad), my Latin band performed at Norwegian Christian Home and Health Center. It was a packed house. Bill and David were there as well as Rosa and her 2 daughters and her son. The Performance was dedicated to You and all Mom's. Roe came up to sing with my band. Roe sang Loving You. It was a beautiful day performing in your honor. Everyone misses you at Norwegian Christian Home and Health Center. I miss you so so much. My heart is heavy but I know you want me to be strong and I will. I cherish the beautiful memories of the love that you nurtured me with. Do you remember when you took me to music lessons every Saturday morning with Alfred Granese? How about walking me to school in my elementary years? Oh Mom I miss you, I Love You. You and Dad have left me with Love and Strength in my life. Everything I am, Teacher, Professor, Musician and Character is because of You. I LOVE YOU. Hi Mama, just love to write to you and let you know how much I miss you.  There isn't one day or one hour for that matter that I don't think of you.   I miss you so so much.   There are so many things I would like to say.   I hope you know how much you meant to me and mean to me still forever.  I hear your voice in my mind. I know you are watching over me. I feel your spirit, I'm not kidding.  You live inside of me.   I have a very busy semester at Touro College. I teach Monday and Wednesday night at Neptune and Thursday night in Queens.  I still sub at Brooklyn Tech.   I'm trying to save some money for our move to Florida.  My co-op is going up for sale soon and Gladys and I hope to move by September, of course we need to sell our co-op first.    I am going to rehearsal now in Queens with my Latin Band. We have a gig in NYC this Saturday.   We will be performing at 
Norwegian Christian Assisted Living Home March 17, Saint Patrick's Day. Mom, you were buried on that same day last year.  I know you are singing and dancing with the Angels and with Dad, Grandma, Grandpa, Joe Salerno and other family and friends.   You know now that Tom Valardo also passed away. I know he is singing his Italian Opera with you in Heaven.   Mom, I Love You, I have always Loved you,  I loved you from the moment you gave birth to me. Hi Mama, I went to Norwegian Christian Home and Assisted Living last Saturday and met Roe, Ralph, Bill and David.   We were hanging around in the cafe with Rosa, Jenny and other residents. We were looking at pictures of you and Rosa and Bill's Mom.   Everyone misses you so so much.  I felt that you were there with us.  I played some guitar with some of the songs you loved and sang like, Out Of Nowhere and Over The Rainbow.   I miss hearing your beautiful voice and seeing your genuine lovely face and eyes.  How I long to hold you, hug you and kiss you on the face cheek like I used to.   I Love you Mama with my heart and soul.  Roe and I went to the second floor to visit Vincent but he was out for the day, probably with his nephew.    Bill and I went to visit Julie in rehab. She always talks so warmly and affectionately about you.  She is doing ok, Thank God. Bill and I also went to visit Joe from the Assisted Living side, he is in Rehab.  Joe is not doing so well.    I love talking to you Mom.  My heart breaks because I miss you so so much.  I know you are with me Mom.  I feel you in my heart and I keep your Love and Life Lessons always close to my spirit. Hi Mama, I think about you every single day. I miss you so much Mama.  It's going to be Christmas in 2 days, of course you know that but I love talking to you.  I would pick you up and we would drive to Staten island to go to Roe's house for Christmas Eve.  This is the 1st Christmas without you physically here with us.  I know you are here with us in spirit.  I cried yesterday because I miss you so so much.   Gladys and I are going to sell our Co-Op and move to Florida sometime during September or after, we need to sell our Co-Op first.  Gladys is retiring at the end of the school year. She is going to work part time in Florida. I will also work in Florida. I'm going to send out my resume to various Colleges and get my NYS Teacher Certificate applied to Florida.   Brooklyn is not the same Mom.  It is much too expensive to live in Brooklyn NY, especially as we get older.  If you were here I wouldn't have moved because I know you didn't want to go to Florida.   I would have never left Brooklyn without you.  Gladys and I are now at Kennedy Airport waiting to go to Florida for vacation. We will be with Marilyn and Umberto.  I want to thank you for the many Blessings you have shown to me.  You and Dad raised me with Love and the knowledge of God and the importance of attending Church. Hi Mom,I think about you every single day. I miss you so so so much. I look at pictures of you and my eyes tear up and my heart aches.   Lot's of things going on Mama.  Tom from Norwegian died. Bill and I went to the Wake on Monday.  Do you remember that Tom's life was such a mystery and we never knew if he was telling the truth? Tom was married, he has been divorced since the 1980s and he did have children. Bill and I met his ex wife, daughter and grandchildren.  That family were not close at all.  I am so blessed that our family was loving, nuturing and intact. You Mama, and Dad really were dedicated to your family.  Thank you Mama and Dad for the Love and sacrifice you made for Roe and myself.  The Love you gave is part of me and will always be a Blessing.    Rosa is in the hospital and hopefully will be going back to Norwegian soon. I communicate with Maria, Rosa's daughter. Julie is in and out of the hospital and rehab at Norwegian.   Norwegian Christian Home and Assisted Living Facility is just not the same without you there. Everyone who knew you, Jenny, Rosa, Bill, etc, all say that it's not the same without you there. It is as if the Light and Spark of Life is missing. You gave that place Love, Light, and Hope with your beautiful face, personality and singing.  I have a picture of you singing with me playing the guitar, it is a beautiful picture and my heart Aches and Longs to hold you, kiss you on the cheek, and look into your beautiful hazel eyes.  I Love you Mom.  This Thanksgiving Holiday was oh so empty without you there. You always spent Thanksgiving with Gladys and me.  You were with me in spirit Mama. I felt you.     Gladys and I are going to move to Florida, hopefully by the summer. Gladys is retiring in the summer.  We will be looking to live near Marilyn and Umberto.  We are going to sell our Co-Op here in Brooklyn and get a Condo in Florida.  It is less expensive to live in Florida. NYC is becoming too expensive.  Florida also has beautiful weather.  Gladys is going to work part time in Florida and I am going to try to teach in Florida as well.   If you were here Mama, I would never have considered moving, but there is nothing holding me here in Brooklyn anymore.   I would have loved for you to move to Florida with me. Good morning Mom. Today is your birthday Mom. Happy Birthday Mama. I miss you so so much and I wish you were here so I can look into those beautiful loving hazel eyes and say I love You Mama. I remember and cherish every moment we spent together and every sacrifice you made for me. My heart is so broken because you are not physically here with me and our family.  You lived 95 healthy years and were the Rock and Patriarch of our family. We all look up to you because you were true to your beliefs and were a shinning example of an absolutely Wonderful Mom.  Thank you for the Love you have given me and our family. I know you are with Dad, Grandma, Grandpa, Joseph Salerno, all family,friends and most of all with God and All the Heavenly Hosts.   I know you are with me every moment and every day.  I follow you as an example of true love.  Thank you Mom.  I will always Love you and Carry your Loving Spirit with me.  I will write to you soon.

Hi Mom, November 2nd was All Souls Day. Mike and John from Cusimano and Russo invited me to Mass at Saint Mary's for All Souls Day. We all lit candles in rememberance of our loved ones. I of course lit a candle for you Mom.  Oh, how I miss you with my heart and soul.  I feel so empty without you. I miss your beautiful face and voice. Saturdays are empty without being with you.    When your name was mentioned at the Mass I was absolutely so proud to be your son. I was in Tears when the candle was lit in your honor.  Joseph Salerno's name was also mentioned.  Well, you are with your favorite son and law now.  You are with Dad, Grandma, Grandpa, and all family and friends in the next world.  You are with Jesus, Mother Mary and all the Saints in Heaven.  I Love you Mom.  I know you are helping me on this side of eternity.   Thank you Mom. I will be strong for you.  I will speak to you soon.   Love Always.

Hi Mom, today was All Souls Day. I went to Saint Mary's Church on 85th street for the All Souls Mass. Mike and John, the Directors of  Cusimano and Russo invited me. Well, the Church lit a candle in rememberance of our loved ones. Mom, I was in tears when my candle was lit and I lit a candle for you. When I heard your name mentioned I was so Proud and my heart was so moved. Joseph Salerno's name was mentioned as well. You are now together with your favorite son and law. Mama, I miss you so so much. My heart is broken. I know you want me to be strong & that I will.   I remember you telling me that you visited Saint Mary's Catholic Church years ago. You had friends near the church.  Mom, I remember that you were so involved with Saint Simon and Jude Church. You went to Novena meetings and prayer meetings at the Church.   You also were involved with the Bingo games as well.  Oh how I miss those days when I was young and I waited for you to come home after the Novena Meetings. I would worry when you came home late.  Mike and John the Directors of Cusimano and Russo Funeral Home are very much involved in the community and were there at Saint Mary's. They had cookies, fruit, cheese and coffee after the All Souls Mass.  It was wonderful. Yesterday was All Saints Day. Now you are in Heaven with the Saints, Family  and all who have passed on from this earthly realm. I have been reading many scientific books on Near Death Experience. Energy and Consciousness lives on.  I know I will see Jesus, the Heavenly Saints, You and Dad, Grandma and Grandpa one day when my earthly life on Earth is over.  I have been going back to Church as well. You always asked me if I went to Church.  Well Mom, you taught me very well. You raised me with knowledge of Jesus and the Catholic Faith.  What a beautiful rich gift that you gave me.   I Love you so much Mom. I know that you know this because you are looking down and guiding me right now.  Help me to be strong Mama. I Love you. Hi Mom, I am always thinking of you and missing you so much.  Bills Mom passed away. She is with you now. Bill asked me to play at the grave site last Saturday at Greenwood Cemetery. I played Over The Rainbow and Amazing Grace.  Gladys and I went to lunch afterwards with Bill and his family. We ate at Gino's Restaurant in Bay Ridge.  He gave me pictures and you and Rosa were in them.  I have been thinking of you Mom.  I have the song Mama by Jerry Vale on my phone. You remember, you sang it.   That song says it all. The Italian words are beautiful. I read the words in Italian and English at the Bearevement Meeting last Tuesday.  I was tearing up because I miss you so so much. I love you Mama. Hi Mom, Gladys and I went to Long Island last Thursday to see Sal and Carol and most importantly to visit You and Dad at Calverton National Veterans Cemetery.  We hung out at Sal and Carol's house like we always did together.   I miss you so so much and so does Gladys.   Bill's Mom is in Hospice at Norwegian and is ready to meet you on the other side. You know all this but I love talking to you on this site.  I went to Norwegian today to visit Rosa, Bill and his Mom and your other friends who all miss you so much.  I Love you Mom. My heart longs to hold you and talk to you.  You are in a peaceful place now, no pain or sorrow.  The world is getting more crazy as the days go by.  I always felt safe with you.  You spread your beautiful warm face and smile that I Love and Miss so much.    I Love you Mom. I always did and always will.

Good morning Mom. I visited Norwegian Christian Home yesterday. I visited your friend Rosa, she is in rehab. She showed me a picture of both of you together. It was beautiful.Bills mom had a stroke and is not doing well. She will be in Hospice care at Norwegian. I know that you are seeing all this from the other side. Mom, I miss you so so much. I know you know that. I know you will welcome Bills Mom when her time on earth is over. you will greet her. I want to say Thank You Mom for everything you have done and sacrificed for me. I was looking at the sheet music songs that Alfred Granese wrote for me about 45 years ago when you would take me to music lessons every Saturday morning at 10:30. I will be using that book next Saturday when I play at Norwegian for the Fair. I will be on the 2nd floor like usual. I will miss seeing you there. It will be hard for me but I know you are with me. I feel your spirit Mom.  Today I am playing at a Block Party with my Latin band. It is on the block where Brooklyn Tech is. You remember that I sub there. Hi Mom, I miss you so very much. Strange but joyful things have been happening.  I was listening to music that I have downloaded on my phone. A song was playing and suddenly it changed without me touching anything to the song Mama( Sung in Italian and English). You used to sing that song. Another strange but joyful thing happened to Gladys and I. We were listening to a Spanish Music station on Sunday and suddenly a song about Mama played out of nowhere.  Maybe you are speaking from the other room from the other side.   Well of course I was in Tears, missing you so so much.   Rosa your best friend is at Lutheran Hospital. Bill let me know. I went last Friday and Gladys and I went last Sunday. Rosa is doing well but misses you so much.   I Love you so very much. Thank you for the unconditional Love you have shown me my whole life. Hi Mom, I went to Lutheran Hospital today to walk through the 4th floor where you were. I also walked on the 5th floor Hospice unit where you passed away.  I needed to do that today. It has been 23 Tuesdays ago that you left this earth and journed to Heaven. I can't even put to words my Grieving emotions that I feel. I miss you so so much. My heart aches deeply to see you, speak to you, hold you in my arms to express my love for you.  I know I will now have to deal with you not physically being here, but I know you are spiritually with me.  I sometimes feel so overwhelmed with your earthly death.   There isn't one day that goes by that I don't think of you.  You are with me in Spirit, that I know.  Thank you for the lessons of life that you taught me.  Thank you for the sacrifices you have made for me, there were so many that I am overwhelmed with greatfulness.   I will always write to you on this site because you Mom, are a Legacy.  When an encyclopedia is opened for an example of a perfect Mom, your picture is there with that wonderful loving smile. Oh how I miss you.

Hi Mom, It is Sunday afternoon and I am thinking of you. I am always thinking of you and missing you.Last Saturday July 29th my Latin Band performed at Norwegian Christian Assisted Living. I dedicated the performance to you Mom.We even played one of the songs you loved, Hit The Road Jack. We played that song for you. You remember when we played there on March 4th. You were sitting in the front row where you always sat. All your friends were there, Rosa, Jenny, Mr., & Mrs Don Juan, and your best friend, Vincent. They all miss you so much. I miss you so much Mom. I wish I could hear your voice, hug you and kiss you like I always did. Saturdays are the hardest because that's when I came to  Norwegian to be with you. Hi Mom, you remember the song you always sang by Stevie Wonder, I Just Called, To Say I Love You. Well I'm singing that song to you. I miss you so much. I know you have spoken to Roe from the other side of eternity in Heaven when you said that Joseph Salerno is dying a few weeks ago. Yes, Joseph Salerno died on July 6th as you now know because he is with you. Now you are together with Dad, Grandma, Grandpa, Joseph Salerno Jr., Joseph Salerno Senior, Betty, Joseph Salerno's Mother, Jimmy, Joseph Salerno's brother, and all our family and friends who are now with you singing and dancing with the Angels. Joseph loved you and he always said you were the best Mother in Law.   I love to write to you because I can talk to you and let you know that I miss you so much and my heart longs to hold you, see you, and speak to you.  I love you Forever.

Gladys & I went to Norwegian Christian Assisted Living Saturday to visit your friends.  The crew all miss you so much.   You mom, brought a breath of fresh air to Norwegian Christian Assisted Living Facility.   Your singing, joking and just your beautiful friendly personality is so missed.   I feel so empty without you in my life.  I know you always taught me to be strong & that I will do. I know I have to live the rest of my life without you physically in my life.   I know you are with me spiritually because I feel you in my heart & soul.  You are walking me through this life with your precious Love.  What an absolutely Loving mom you have been, so Loving & Beautiful.   Cusimano & Russo Funeral Home had their annual Memorial Mass at Saint Simon & Jude Church last Saturday morning.   Mike & John read off all the names of the Cusimano & Russo Funeral Home deceased family members in the last year.   I had tears in my eyes at the Mass.   When your name was read, Phyllis DeMarco, I was so proud to be your son.  I Love you so much and will see you one day on the other side, in Heaven.   Mommy, you are always with me, every minute of every day.

Mom, Gladys & I were  at Calverton Cemetery today.  You are now resting in peace for eternity with daddy, grandma, grandpa, the Angels and God Almighty.  It was hard to see the slate with your name on it next to daddy.   I miss your physical presence in my life. I miss your voice, I miss you totally.   You're spirit will always live inside my heart and soul.    You are directing me through life now without your physical presence.   Mommy, the life lessons you have taught me are so numerous I would need tons of books to write them down in, but they live in my heart and spirit.   I will write every week to express my love for you.    I am being strong mom, I must.   I just long for you mom. I do Love You with every frame of my being, God knows.     I will be strong for you mom. You taught me to embrace life as it unfolds, and life and death are part of the equation.     Love forever.

Mom, I can't describe the pain and grief that I'm experiencing.  I miss you from the essence of my being.  I Love You with every frame of my being. Mom, it is Monday morning and I am off to work. You remember, Mondays are a busy day for me.  I have a very busy week as well.    Mom, I have you in my heart and mind every single day.  There isn't one day that my heart doesn't ache for you. I miss you so so much. I love you so so much.  I remember you saying ,You're Working In Queens Today? Or,You're working at Neptune?  Oh how I miss your sweet voice saying those words.   I have strength in knowing that you dealt with extreme grief back in 1981,1982 and 1983 when you lost Grandpa, Grandma and Daddy.  I remember those days and you were so strong.  Just remembering those days gives me strength.  You were an exceptional Mom. You taught me so much, not only by Words but Action.   I know you are singing and dancing in Heaven and giving me strength.   I sometimes feel so down with grief but remembering your Strength and Love helps me.  Thank you Mom. I Love you.

Mom, it is Saturday afternoon now.  My heart aches so much today. We always spent our Saturdays together.  I miss you so so much.   I don't know what I am going to do without your physical presence in my life.  You always encouraged me to be strong, and that I will.   So many songs come to mind that you use to sing.  One song that rings so true is the song Smile.     Smile, though your heart is aching, Smile though it's breaking.  Yes mom, those words ring in my heart.  I Love you with every frame of my being mom.  I miss you.

Poem for Mom

Mom, I miss you so so much.  Your love will Always remain inside my heart and soul.  I miss talking with you daily on the phone.  I miss hearing your sweet tender, sincere voice.   Saturdays are hard for me because I would visit you every Saturday.  My Saturdays will never be the same without you.    I Love You Mom.   You are here with me in Everything I do through this life's journey.   How empty it is without seeing you and hearing you.   I do hear your voice in my mind and I feel your presence inside of me.    The Angels have you now in their choir.    I miss you mom.

I am Blessed that you gave me life Mom.  You will Always live inside my Soul, Heart and Spirit.  Love onto Eternity.

My Mom was a wonderful loving person, so full of life.
She had a wonderful spirit and she touched everyone.
I will always remember her laughter, her smile and how happy she made people feel when she would sing out a song.  She had a passion for helping others and anybody in need.  My Mom will always be my hero. She was the wind beneath my wings.  I love you Mom, and thank you for all you have done for me throughout my life.  I am blessed for having been your daughter.

Phyllis was the best mother in law any girl can ever have. I loved her so much and she loved me. I will forever keep her in my heart. May you rest in peace. I love you  Your daughter in law Gladys'

Fay and I had this ongoing exchange of comical accolades.
I would say that she was the best mother-in-law I ever had; and of course she referred to me as the best son-in-law she ever had . 

Fay was a breath of fresh air; pure and simple.  I knew Fay for 55 years; and in all those years I never heard her say a cross word about anyone. She was a gem. She loved  everyone; and never passed up the opportunity to send her regards to someone.
I went to see Fay this past Valentine's Day; she was in rehab at the Norwegian home.  She was struggling to walk with the aid of a walker; but all she was concerned about was...."how's Barbara" and "how is your father".
It was never about her. And if you sent her a card or flowers; she called to thank you from her cell phone lickety split; 95 and hi tech to boot.

Back in the day Fay was queen of the discount stores way before there was a 99 cents store on every corner; Fay worked for the famous John's Bargain store and when they went out of business; she worked at D&D's on 86th street.
She worked like she was the energizer bunny; day in and day out.
Fay had many friends and quite a diverse group of people they were; of every nationality. I learned most of my Yiddish from her lol.

When she finally retired,
she joined the Marlboro Senior center and would go there every day to meet with friends and sing and dance. There was no end to her energy and her passion for life.

I know we will all miss Fay.
She was very special and we must celebrate her life; and not let her passing blemish the greatness of her life.

My mom was a wonderful person. She was always full of life and love. My mom gave me an absolutely beautiful childhood. She taught me by her actions and words. She never wanted to be the center of attention, but because of her love and shinning light, she attracted everyone. She loved God and demonstrated that love to her family and friends. Her love touched everyone she came in contact with. My mom has taught me to love in a most genuine and sincere way. Everything I am today, I owe to my mom.  I LOVE HER AND WILL MISS HER SO SO SO MUCH.

Please accept our sincere condolences. Phyllis was a wonderful person who brought sunshine where ever she went. At our center she was the life of the party. She loved to dance and we loved to hear her sing. She was multi-talented and was a contributing part of our art group. She was a person who did not know the meaning of the no because when ever asked to help, she always said yes. Our only wish, is that she is now at peace and Heaven is enjoying her angelic voice.
