June 28, 1938 – October 13, 2025
Ruth Corn, a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away peacefully on October 13, 2025, at the age of 87. Born in Brooklyn, New York, and raised in Long Island City, New York, Ruth lived a life defined by love, learning, and dedication to family.
A proud graduate of Julia Richman High School and Queens College, Ruth went on to earn her master’s degree in education from Long Island University of Education at the CW Post campus. She devoted 38 years to teaching—most of them in the Half Hollow Hills School District—where she inspired generations of students with her patience, kindness, and passion for education.
Ruth was married to the late Alan Robert Corn, with whom she shared a loving and enduring partnership. Together, they built a beautiful family that was the center of Ruth’s world. She is survived by her daughter Laurie (Corn) Powell and her husband Frank, and her son Kenneth Corn and his wife Megan Corn. Ruth was the proud grandmother of Harrison and Addison Powell, and Elizabeth and Stephanie Corn, who were her greatest pride and joy.
Ruth will be remembered for her warmth, compassion, and contagious smile. Her legacy of love and learning lives on through her family and the many students whose lives she touched.
We are celebrating her life on October 20, 2025, at 10:00 am at IJ Morris Funeral Home, 21 E. Deer Park Road, Dix Hills, NY 11746. Cemetery service immediately following the funeral.
