Simon Fischer

Simon Fischer, 88 years old, was a proud retired New York City Teacher. He lived in Brooklyn, New York, his whole life. His parents were immigrants from Poland. His dad was named Israel and his mom was Clara. He had two brothers, Joseph and Irwin, both who predeceased him. He had two nephews, Joseph and Morris and two nieces, Gwenn and Karen, and many grand nieces and nephews who adored him.

Simon loved to travel and especially enjoyed his visits to the Holy Land. He was a regular synagogue member who worshiped every Saturday in a cozy temple in Brooklyn near his apartment. Simon was a Yeshiva student as a young boy.

Simon had a Master’s degree in Education and taught social studies and history at the middle school level and was also a homebound teacher. He loved his kids and was fond of remembering when they called him “Mr. Fischerman man”. Teaching was a bright spot in Simon’s long life. Simon was in the army reserve in the 1960’s.

Simon loved music, art and theater. He was an avid play goer and had season tickets to many NYC play houses, NYC ballet, Metropolitan Opera and Philharmonic Orchestra. He also loved sports. He had a seat at the 50 yard line for the Jets for many years and rooted on his favorite teams with passion.

Simon Fischer was a terrific son, brother, uncle and friend. His life was one of joyful independence and deep intelligence. Simon was generous to a fault. He will be very sorely missed. God Bless you Simon and may you rest in peace and love.

A Graveside Service will be held at New Montefiore Cemetery, 1180 Wellwood Ave, West Babylon, NY 11704, US, on August 28, 2026, from 11:00 am to 11:30 am.
