Tommy grew up in Park Slope, Brooklyn, and attended Saint Savior’s Elementary School. After high school, he went on to college in Colorado and Las Vegas and then spent time in Australia. More recently, he was living back in Brooklyn. Tommy loved to read and was a life-long learner. He had an insatiable appetite for history and politics, happily engaging in conversation with family and friends on topics related to world events.
In recent years Tommy had been battling various health issues but continued to overcome obstacles with wit and grace. Tommy is pre-deceased by his parents Maureen and James Dougherty and survived by his siblings Maura and Jay.
A memorial mass will be held for Tommy on Saturday August 23rd at 10 AM at Saint Saviors Church in Park Slope, Brooklyn. Interment will be private at Green-Wood Cemetery.
