Our memories of Tom are the times we spent visiting at Regina and Dennis’ house in West Nyack for some family event. Tom and Mary were always pleasant and fun to be with. They also visited with us in Naples, Florida for a short time, and brought a gift, a very gracious surprise! It seems family was very important in their lives and they cherished times spent with them. May he Rest In Peace.

I have many fond memories of Tommy but one that is special to me was when he visited Bill at Sloan Kettering and brought him a can of beer. He will be missed. Mary and Regina and family are in my prayers.

Uncle Tom,
I am so thankful to have met you a few times over the years. Even though the occasions were few and far, I always remembered you as a jolly and loving man. Anytime you made an appearance at a family event, my Dad Peter's eyes would light up when he saw you across the room as he exclaimed with excitement, "That's my Uncle Tommy!!!".

My Dad and his siblings always referred to you as the 'fun' relative. I sense the pride and gratitude they expressed to have been able to call you their uncle. You touched your family's lives in ways that you probably never knew, and you will certainly remain alive and full of life in all of our hearts.

Aunt Mary, Regina, and family,
Sending my deepest sympathies and condolences your way. You are in my thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. Thank you for making attending Tom's services from afar possible. I know that he is looking down on all of us, and, although there is an emptiness with his physical absence, may we fill that void with all of our wonderful memories of him.

God Bless,
Christina Torpey Fallis

Uncle Tom,
Thank you for all of the great memories that you leave with our family. Your laughter and energy made everyone want to be around you.
Pete was proud to call you his Godfather, and he loved you more than you ever knew.
Your soul has been warmed and blessed by your time here with your beautiful wife, Mary, and all of your loving family. We will look after them until we meet again. God bless you all.

Uncle Tommy and Aunt Mary are very pleasant people. They came to visit the California Torpey’s a while ago and I remember them being so kind and funny! They brought us a gift of a wooden ram statue which we still have out on display in our living room :)

Every memory I have of Uncle Tom makes me smile. He was a warm, fun, and down to earth man. He was always interested in hearing about what was going on in my life and my family’s. My kids still talk about his visit to Ohio with Mary, and just the fun time we had showing him the local sites, the Irish Pub, and just chatting. He was a kind and caring man, the type of man you enjoyed being around. May he Rest In Peace

Uncle Tom. I never forget when you showed up at my little league baseball game right when I was brought in with bases loaded and a one run lead. You were the “loudest” fan encouraging me on. I knew then that I could not let you down and was able to secure the victory with striking out the last two batters. You always had a way of lighting up the room with laughter

Aunt Mary, Regina and family. Although Tom will be missed we were fortunate that we shared life together and the imprint he left in our hearts will last forever

Uncle Tom was always so much fun to talk and laugh with. I enjoyed his ( and Mary’s) visit to Texas and playing cards Hi-Lo-Jack around the table and our visits when we vacationed in North Conway to StoryLand. He was always a welcoming warm friendly face and I always felt loved by him. I will miss you, Tom. My deepest sympathies and love and prayers for you, Mary. May God hold you in the palm of His hand and console you completely. May Tom Rest In Peace in Heaven forever.

I remember Uncle Tom as a joyful happy person. He was always one for a great conversation. He was a great storyteller, he always had some interesting tidbit, fact, situation or memory to share with you. However, it wasn't about him talking or telling his story he was really a great listener and truly interested in other people. Even as a kid growing up when all the adults and aunts and uncles were over the house or us over theirs, uncle Tom was one of the few adults who actually listened to us as kids and that made me feel special. He did love the camera, I believe in my wedding video outside of Patti and I, Tom got the most airtime during the "interview process". He indeed was feeling no pain at the time of the interview and was proclaiming to the world (via VHS video) that I was a Poet Laureate and how great a couple Patti and I will be. He let Mary have some camera time as well. Mary was such a loving force in Tom's life, she let Tom be Tom. I now think about how great a couple they were and such a good example of two people always full of love and positive energy in all my interactions with them. You will be missed Tom but your memory and your story is with us always. Love Dan Torpey, Official Poet Laureate (as proclaimed by Tom). Sent via link, Dallas, Texas - January 2021
